Why is it that when I raid an undefended town, I still lose a unit? Are the townsfolk rising up with their brooms and shovels and weaving looms to defend their homeland?

I attacked some nearby town with two slingers, and they pillaged it without dying.

I'm glad to see the mightiness of the French Army is reflected in the game.

I have never been attacked. (Since I posted that, I'll get wiped out now)

I've made nicey-nice with most of my neighbors, so if it does happen, it'll be from an island that's further away.

I've tried to pillage a few times, but I never seem to have enough units to do any real damage. So now I'm just working on making all my colonies nice and pretty. Cobblestone "roads" look nice.

Oh lord.

I recently server transferred in World of Warcraft and joined a guild working through Sunwell. My new guild has a hard on for Ikarium. Lambda server. So all I hear while we are killing Illidan is "Oh my lord I need wine"

My problem with these games is that I have some weird issue with talking to people I don't know...it makes me suspicious. So, I'll probably do what I did in Ogame and try to create an impenetrable fortress as best I can and not speak to anyone else. I may bug one of you for more materials though. hmmm...

It sold fast, too. I mean, I put the offer up, went outside to do some work, and when I came back in there was a ship on its way. So maybe fifteen minutes before someone picked up on it.

To buy and sell you never have to talk to anyone (for the most part). In your trading post, just use the menus to look for people who are selling the resource you need and/or to find people that are willing to buy the resource you're selling. Then just click the button and your boats will automatically go out to get the stuff, or start loading your good to deliver to the person you're selling to.

I'm not a big fan of talking to people I don't know, either.

I don't understand how to buy things that are too far away for me to see them. My search radius is only one island but the things I need aren't sold on my island!

You need to upgrade your trading post to level 3, at least.

Then you'll in theory see islands that are next door or something. I don't know. No one was selling any glass, so I'm not sure I trust it.

You'll need to upgrade your trading post. Every level (or is it two levels?) you can see more and more islands. I think upgrading to level 2 still just requires wood and not marble.

Down below the place where you search for others that are selling resources, there is a list of all resources available. In the marble slot, select "buy", then put the amount you want to buy, and the amount you're willing to pay for it. Then maybe someone will search you out, and sell some to you.

Just watch what you are offering and the reserve, it will hold gold aside for you. Took me a second ot figure out where 2k gold suddenly went.

I sold glass for 50g a piece, this must be the way to go.
