I've been playing Tribal Wars, which is also quite similar. The main difference, if you remember the mechanics of OGame, is that the only way to expand is to take over someone else's village, instead of colonizing random empty planets. Also, there's no "super unit" like the Death Star, it's more like 12 or so different unit types that you play rock paper scissors with.

The best part, though, is that it's mostly filled with juvenile idiots. This means that all you have to do to become godlike is join a somewhat competent tribe, which are admittedly rare. But I found a great one and we're quickly rising on world 17. Smiley: grin

I'll give it a go for now. I've been playing Ogame for awhile so I should be able to pick this up easy enough.

Oh, your ability to produce res depends more on workers than it does on the actual buildings themselves.

Interesting.

I like having the ability to customize your output by reallocating labor. It certainly adds a bit more strategy than "build mine, wait for resources, build bigger mine" like OGame featured.

I'll be even more interested to see what combat is like.

And since nobody has mentioned it yet: Asylum alliance?

RedPhoenix, Parispolis, [83:24], and not the slightest bleedin' clue as to what I'm doing.

Looks fun, reminds me a bit of this old PC game called Populus or something...

Red, Populous... One of the first (the first?) God-sims.
Do you like Black and White as well?

Anyway, since WoW, Travian, and Fallen Sword* are not taking enough of my time, I'm in.

Joined Theta as Seyar, hailing from the town of Sanctuary.

For those who were, like me, trying to figure out how to start out, this beginner's guide is pretty helpful.

I think no one has mentioned it yet because you have to play for a bit before achieving diplomacy and the ability to form an alliance. When I get to that point, assuming I'm just not well supplied enough to crush you all in my iron grip (except DSD of course, I would never crush her because she is soooo great and awesome and all that), I would be happy to form an alliance. I will sling any number of other players with my seven tiny slinging men from atop my impenatrable wall! Also, I will soon be making delicious wine, and we all love wine!

Yes! That was such a cool game.

Though what would be even cooler is a MMO of les Chevaliers du Zodiaque, but I doubt that will come anytime soon...

Chevaliers du Zodiaque MMO? Smiley: eek

I'll settle for a decent PC game, RPG, Combat, or even Strategy.

As a MMO I don't see how it would work, everyone is a low soldier or a Saint (Chevalier) in training and the biggest, baddest NPCs are the 5 bronzies, the 12 goldies (how would lore revive them?) and a couple of silvers?

I honestly can't wrap my mind around how the CdZ universe would translate into a MMO.

I'm already promised to my guildies alliance, but if you guys make one, it would be pretty cool to get both alliances allied together. We could plot world domination

Wasn't there like... 50 or so Silvers?

It's been years since I saw the cartoon, but the "classes" could be the different Chevaliers (Pegasus, Swan, Dragon, Phoenix, etc...). Then you have the classic items/armour/spells, that's quite easy. Then you set the story/lore before the Chevaliers killed the Gold dudes, so the progression is Bronze, Gold, and Silver, like in the cartoons.

I should a qualifier here, which is that I'm talking out of my ***, since I haven't seen the cartoon in 20 years or so, and have never designed anything. Nothing new here, you might say, and you would be right, but I thought I should point it out.

Lemme know if you guys do make an alliance. I threw out the idea of having both alliances ally with each other if you guys stick with it. I know my guildies are pretty addicted atm and that's all we're talking about on our guild forums Smiley: grin

Expansion should be done by tomorrow morning for me. I'm not sure how far I can go, but if you need crystal and I'm able to get it to you, I'm more than happy to lend or trade with you. Smiley: cool

From what I understand, you have to have very specific research done before even being able to build an alliance. I'm not just talking about one or two, but several.

you need to be able to build an embassy of lvl 3 or higher, which takes learning of foreign cultures.

Some putz on my island attacked me while I was asleep and plundered about 300 building material. He came back again tonight while I was in TK, but found a different fate awaiting his poor slingers:
Quote:
Victors: Zas
Remaining troops (-Losses)
Slinger 7(-5) 7(-5)
The town Glastonshire was defended.

I sent him a very stern message saying that it was in his best interest to cease attacks (or else). We'll see if I can't goad him into smashing his troops against my walls s'more.

I've pillaged a town near me three times using a lone slinger, but he never has anything for me to plunder. I consider it practice.

Isn't the upkeep for troops on the move too much though? I can't get any studying done when we're at war!
