But chances are it'll look and taste like a goddamn hot dog. It'll probably be even worse.
Right now, most vat meat is just clusters of muscle cells; but there's more to meat, even bad meat, than just that.
Probably the best bet for good synthetic meat is taking animals we currently raise for meat, and then genetically engineering out the ethically questionable bits, like brains. (Or in a nod to HHGTG, breeding them to specifically want to be eaten.)
Somehow I doubt PETA'd go for that though.
