Mariah Carey has a music career?!

I thought she was just some ***** they put onto an album cover, so she'd stop saying she was black.

Let me cue you in on a fact:

She beat Elvis Presley's record for hit singles. Like her or hate her, she's got talent.

And who are you to determine who deserves a talent that you have no influence on? You may like to follow the tabloids, but don't assume it gives you the right to decry her success. Jealousy doesn't suit you.

Besides, I may believe you don't deserve to continue breathing, but that doesn't make it any less illegal for me to kill you, even if the police do agree with me after reading some of your posts.

Ask her cleavage. It told me she deserves it.

Hell, I don't even want to hear her sing.

In Canada prostitution is not illegal but soliciting is.

Just recently the city cracked down on private escorts, sex workers and any girl working from home or over the internet. Quite a big sting and in the end they were hit with fines for providing a service that they technically need a municipal permit for.

Paper went on about it for awhile, apparently the whole thing was sparked by the the local escort companies who do pay for the permits breaking balls at city hall and making a move to crush independant sex trade in the city.

In the end it was just another blow to my ambitions of hiring a school bus full of prostitutes and driving around random cities, towns, mining camps etc and selling cooch and hash by the brick.

Life is not fair.

My ex's mum runs a brothel,
and once asked me if I'd like to work as a driver for some of her...."ladies".
This involved protecting the girls if things got rough.

Joke of a job I believe.

But anyone who has had a "mental snap" due to "stress" over how hard her life is, and anyone who claims to be black though they are as white as the driven snow and has no African-American body/facial features, except a voice that can be compared to theirs, when she's supposedly half African-American?!

Is a moron and a *****.

I got no horse in the Mariah Carey race; I mostly find her music irritating. That said, none of this particular screed hangs together.

I don't think it's a matter of wishing it on anyone. At some point people are going to do what they're going to do; the question is how to respond.

I recently saw something on the tube about the legal brothels in Nevada. The girls there are regularly tested for STD's, and to date there has never been a single girl that has come up positive.

These girls make a lot of money. They are, presumably, well educated on how to prevent STD's, and with their income threatened if they contract anything, they are highly motivated to abide by strict rules.

They are not being victimized, they're not feeding drug habits, and they're heavily taxed.

I'm all for legalizing it. The Nevada system has proven that it can work, be safe, and be kept out of the hands of the criminal element. We really need to give cut the ties with our puritanical past.

Saw a show along the same lines. I have to say that I was totally impressed with how some of the girls approached it. They saw that it was a way to make a bunch of money in a very fast way and they called the shots. It was actually quite empowering the way they were portrayed.

If she enjoys it when she's older, absolutely, as long as it's safe.

There's nothing wrong with prostitution from a moral standpoint. It's merely a service that makes you feel good, like a massage, facial treatment, or any other feel good service (spa services come to mind). As long as the safety issues are taken care of it's just another job choice. I wouldn't use it myself, but I don't get massages or facial treatments either.

It should be legal with safety regulations like every other profession.

Besides, with the way that some of these women have approached it, they have put themselves in the position of power. They are not at the mercy of their johns or pimps. They call the shots.

Sex hasn't been the most intimate act a woman ever engages in for many many years now. In fact, I would argue that kissing, cuddling, and perhaps writing the odd love note is more intimate than sex at this point.

No, but I wouldn't marry a police officer/priestess/lawyer either, it's just a personal preference.

Good point. I find it funny that an insurance agent is on a high horse with regards to prostitution.

For insurance companies to prosper financially, they need to rip-off their customers. By definition.

So your business doesn't run at a profit? By definition you don't oversell the "service" you "provide"?

Maybe varrus runs his company as a non-for-profit welfare scheme.

Which would be nice of him.
