If we don't vote for Obama then we should get ready for the comet to hit and the Stay Puft Marshmallow man to come and destroy America. I think this is more of litmus test on our willingness to "evolve" or our ability to continue eating our own tail. Fuck the bullshit

that's all, continue your regularly scheduled political discourse

I'm pretty sure that if i lived in the US and voted republican, my children would one day be wondering why I had been voting for a party that had its priorities where it did.

Of course, I would have to explain to them that my decisions had been based on the freedom to continue to carry a gun and my general paranoia concerning foreigners and their belief in a different 'invisible friend' than I had..

I'm sure they would understand.

You know what? I really love the number of "If I were a republican/conservative/whatever, I'd do this...". Um... You're not. That's what many of you just don't get. You're arguing what you think the motivations are for what other people are doing. But you're wrong. While I'm sure you can find the occasional nutjob who cares only about his guns, or his religion, this does *not* mean that Conservatives vote Republican only for those reasons, or even primarily for those reasons.

Certainly, in this case Obama is perpetuating a common myth believed by those on the Left. That people vote GOP because of guns and religion and *not* also because of economics, and a belief in individual rights (which, oddly covers both guns and religion!). That's why this comes off as elitist. It's a "I know best" attitude, as though people don't know why they hold the positions they hold politically.

As an attempt to appeal to the working class people, he failed pretty darn miserably. More tellingly, I honestly don't think he has a clue *why* he failed. He simply doesn't understand working class people. He has an education that tells him what they want/need, but sadly, the real world doesn't match his academic expectations...

I don't kno what tangent you are off on....but,

I was responding to the bit where you burbled on about..

Sorry. Many of us just don't buy that. We want to have the opportunity to make our own lives better over time. We want the chance to make them better still for our children. And we don't want to support a set of policies that will not only make it harder to do that, but will punish us if we do.

I just think that your endevours to provide a better future for you children are being somewhat sabotaged by the dimwits who are busy borrowing money from China so as to pay for the occupation of Iraq. Someones going to have to pay that money back one day. I hope you are putting away your tax-refunds into a hi-interest account somewhere, so that your kids don't have to spend their whole adult lives paying for the ****-ups of this generation of voters.

Well, my father's side of the family is all GoP through and through. One of my cousins is the head of the GOP in North Dakota (Gary Emineth.) My mother was a union Democrat, so politics was a forbidden subject in the household. After viewing the Republicans from a fairly inside point of view, then viewing the Democrats from an outsider's perspective . . . I said **** em both and went off and joined the Green party.

So, I saw what the GoP was on its surface as well as its heart, and I didn't like it. Hypocrisy rankles me more than anything else.

Oh good bob you're a dumbfuck.

When companies make more, time and time again, they don't pay workers more. Big business is willing to cut any corner possible (including safety, retirement, etc) just to make that extra buck. Look at CEO vs Worker pay ratio's to the US compared to other country sometime.

Gbaji, you are about the most stupid person I know. Please tell me while this might be a Conservative Ideal, but is far from the truth, and hey I'll understand.

Look gbaji, I picture where all Americans come together to make sure its people are well educated (free college), well fed(solid welfare plan), free from the tyranny of weapons(strict gun-control), and get to see a doctor (universal healthcare) any time they please (Why does this sound like the UK?). I realize this is a Liberal Ideal, and I can admit comfortably that this is not likely to happen.

Now please tell me you aren't as fucking stupid to ignore corporate greed.

No, they're all pre-teens.

Seriously man, after all these insurances sold, all this ocra grown, all all these three-pointers scored in Germany, how come your level of English is that of a retarded 6 year old Nepalese street kid?

None of this is new news.

so after being tire of reading comments of the gbaji's and virus of the USA ranking about Freedom to earn what they please in 2 thread I give you this song from in 1950's.

Free Enterprise, by Malvina Reynolds.

The air you breathe is poison, the food you eat is worse,
The dollars in your pay check are pennies in your purse.
In full page advertisements they praise it to the skies,
They tie it up with fancy bows and dress it up in fancy clothes,
It still offends the gentle nose, free enterprise.

Chorus:
Free enterprise, it's free enough no doubt.
Anything they give away you're better off without.

The bandits of the old days would hide their heads in shame,
Their old-time buccaneering was hardly worth the name.
They used to end on gibbets and dance against the skies,
And now they live on top the town and sport their minks and cars around
And buy up Congress by the pound, free enterprise.

(Chorus)

There's nothing free about it, you pay at every turn,
Except the guys in Wall Street who have the stuff to burn.
They had to make new brain machines to count their profits' rise,
But since there's always room for more they still can make the market soar--
A little war does wonders for free enterprise.

(Chorus)

They gag you if you holler, they kick you if you sneeze,
They throw you in the hoosegow for singing songs like these.
The only way to like it is to close your ears and eyes,
It's good for G. M. Company, Morgan and the A and P,
But it's just no darn good for me, free enterprise.

(Chorus)

edit oops it's was copyrighted in 1958, my mistake for not checking when it first appear in one of her song books in 1951.

I have my cute receptionist. Market to my brokers, you know taking them to nice dinners shooting a round of golf, and sit back and let the receptionist quote. Sure beats having 15 agencies and 40 employees, seen it firsthand. Not that you believe anything I say. Regardless i'm a self-employeed homeowner at 32 who has enough time and money to invest 2500$ in a 100 gallon salt-water aquarium, take frequent trips to the obx, and still have time to walk the dog (have lost 15lbs since the new year only 15 more and i'm back to my college playing weight).

And they still haven't made a movie about you?? I heard Keanu Reeves' schedule is empty. Would make a good movie about a kid who inherited an insurance company and then brags about it online.

Also, what happened to the okra fields?

Nice generalization. Care to prove such an outrageous assertion? I suppose you also believe blacks are lazy, Japanese are sneaky, Mexicans are all thieves, and women are dumber than men. Heh, and here you are calling Gbaji a ********* you *********

Right, it's quite obvious how an illiterate redneck such as yourself could succesfully start and run his own insurance company from scratch, without help from anyone. I totally buy into that. Tell me, your dad wasn't into insurance by any chance?

After having ran it through Google translation (Redneck to English), I was fine.

Look, I love German Sheperds too. I really do. They are by far the cleverest dogs, and they are extremely cute, especially when they're puppies. Not only that, but they really have a human look in their eyes, its almost discomforting.

But your dad had 15 agencies. One five.

Need we really say more?

Listen I know not everyone starts at the same point. But you don't intentionally trip the ones out in front so that the others can catch up. You seem to operate from the assumption that the pie is only so big so in order to for someone to succeed someone else has to fail. That couldn't be further from the truth.

I like this poem from Banksy:

you can win the rat race but you're still a rat.

the human race is an unfair and stupid
competition. a lot of runners don't even get
decent sneakers or clean dinking water.

some runners are born with a massive head
start, every possible help along the way and still
the referees seem to be on their side.

it's not surprising a lot of people have given up
competing all together and gone to sit in the
grandstand, eat junk food and shout abuse.

what we need in this race is a lot more streakers.

I'm not in favour of tripping people up, or of restricting the pie.

But I am in favour of making an effort so that there is an equality of chances. So that everyone is born with a decent chance of "making it". Today, it's clearly not the case. Wealth, status, class, and outlooks are all largely inherited at birth. And just like political positions shouldn't be bestowed at birth, I don't think economic positions should be entirely bestowed at birth either.

How can you make it fairer? By having better standards in things which are basic human rights: education, health, and standard of living. It means investing in public schools and universities, investing in healthcare, and in public housing. It means making sure the criminal justice system is not completely discriminatory towards the poor, or some ethnic minority.

The funny thing is that the alternative are ghettos and gated communities.
