The *only* point I was making was that there is no difference between universal health coverage and socialized medicine.

Of course there is, the latter term is completely meaningless.

#279REDACTED, Posted: Apr 24 2008 at 5:43 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) For the most part i would have to side with whoever is in office. I can cheer all day for the guy that talks a big game but when it comes down to the nitty gritty it's all ******** once they are elected. Bush is guilty as hell of that. Watch his campaign speeches about his plan for our country and see if it adds up to now. Running for president is like a car salesman trying to get you in a cadillac. You know you can't afford it but boy wouldn't it be nice. Fact is this, for Bush's defense we have lost around 7-8k troops during his term. Funny thing about that is that we lost over 14k during the Clinton administration and and we weren't even in conflict. If you look at the facts and not the he said she said, then on paper Bush has been a average ok just like his father president. Everyone grills him for the war but won't answer why Clinton lost more troops doing "PEACEKEEPING" missions... Our troops have had more raises than any other time in history, they have new uniforms, new guns, better equipment. When it comes down to an election ask yourself what you think is best for America not what's best for the face of America. I don't recall becoming the superpower that we are by debating economical strategies, the Euro is tops on currency so people need to realize that war has given us our time and if we lose sight of that we are fighting from within. I do not support Obama based off of my own opinion. I served in the 82nd Airborne 2/325 Ft. Bragg NC and it saddens me to see a man trying to be the leader of the free world and he can't even address our colors...

This isn't even close to accurate.

Cite, please. For someone intimating that I get all my information from the cool kids at MSN, or whatever your point was, you don't seem very ready to back up your own stupid opinions.

Please, by all means, cite me a credible source for that quote.

And your just pissed because your political argument comes from an MSN blog. Get real kid, open a book, do some research, don't just stand next to the cool kid in line and say i'll have whats he's having.

Not that give a Shit about your crappy rethoric written in paragraphs that make my eyes bleed, but you're attacking the wrong poster here.

Samira has probably read more books than you've seen.

Eh?

Yeah, I would hate to be middle class in the UK. I mean they live longer, live healthier, have healthier babies, fewer of their babies die, fewer of their children die, and they have fantastic lagers.

Those poor suffering assholes in the UK. I feel sorry for them.

Obama's plan, at least, is to make available (affordably) the same health plan available to members of Congress (and other federal employees via FEHBP). Which is, in reality, a whole bunch of programs bidding against one another and which you can choose from based on your needs and how much you want to pay. The only way the plan would result in a real loss for me would be if they (A) cost more than Flea & I pay now for insurance and (B) offered equal or less coverage. Which isn't likely.

Playing with the Federal Employees Health Benefits Plan website and comparing potential packages, it'd be hard for me to come out behind. And I'm neither "very wealthy" nor "the poor".

I've decided that I'm satisfied with gbaji's position on health care. He's stated several times that universal health care would be nice to have. I'm glad we agree.

I'm reading Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance.

My man crush on Barry grows more & more.

Also, little Barry's struggle for racial identity amuses me.

To bring this thread up-to-date, the Rev. Wright will be in the news again this coming week. Between addressing the NAACP tomorrow and his interview with PBS, if Barry Hussein had hoped this whole escapade had slipped into the past, he's sadly mistaken. Whether it has any traction is another issue, but the political risk associated with having Wright back in the news can't be downplayed.

I don't think anyone is under the delusion that it's "faded into the past". It's perfectly obvious that the usual suspects will be harping on this until 2012 if they have to. That's how partisan politics works.

I think that most voters have already made up their minds about how much they care about Wright's comments and how deeply they associate them with Obama.

Most voters don't know who the candidates are yet.

We live in an political echo chamber in that regard.
