I finally quit smoking, after 14 years. And I can pretty much tell this is the real deal too, for a lot of reasons. I joined up with a study at Duke University and I'm being supplied with free patches (thank bob cause those things are so damn expensive) and I'm taking Wellbutrin as well. I'm on Day 4 of absolutely nothing and I'm doing good. Prior to my real quit date, I was smoking a max of 2 non nicotine cigs a day for 2 weeks. Those things are so pathetic I just realized it's not even worth going out to smoke them.

But then I still need something to do to keep my mind occupied and I dont know what the hell I was thinking, but I decided to really get into excersising. I'm hitting the gym as often as I can, killing myself for an hour each time doing cardio, weights, etc. Despite stretching, using the hot tub and sauna after, and downing tylenol, I still wake up the next day in pain. And yet Im back out there the following day.Smiley: glare

So not smoking and a lot of excersise, all at once. I need one more thing to complete the masochistic trifecta. Any suggestions?

Ummm, finding a great low-fat cookbook to work through?

I dunno, just trying to stick with the "healthy living" theme.

Give up all dairy products.

Humans stop producing the enzyme needed to digest lactose when they reach the age of four. A 10 year study of 10,000 people across countries in North America and Western Europe found that 3/4 of all adults were lactose intolerant to greater and lesser extents. Consuming dairy products gives rise to a huge host of chronic inflammatory illnesses, that are usually not traced to dairy consumption, because dairy is so invisibly ubiquitous in our diets.

People have had illnesses such as RSI, trigger finger, carpel tunnel, back pain, and various types of arthritis, joint pain, lung and sinus problems subside when they get off dairy products.

I couldn't give up dairy entirely. I cut it right down, and when I have it I take a 10c tablet that has Lactase in it, to help digest the lactose.

Well you should clearly start, then.

Or, you could go with cutting or bulimia. Those are my suggestions.

You've got a valid point. Although I havent been on the pc very much to post here for the past couple of months, so I havent been able to consider this a valid option for awhile. Maybe I can ignore the lil spawns more often and try to get here more often to complete my trifecta.

Don't bother going to the gym if you aren't going to modify your diet at all, you'll hit a plateau quickly. Keep records of your progress through pictures and blogs etc, it will really help you look at where you've been and what you can do differently. It will help immensley on those days you want quit.

actually my diet is pretty good. Thats the one thing I'm pretty good about. And I already cut back on the little things I indulge on. Only thing I wont give up is my one beer or glass of wine during raid nights (3 nights a week).
