Ok, so it's not quite the same thing. But the Pan's Labyrinth director has been brought in for Hellboy 2, and after seeing the trailer, I'm all sorts of excited. This film looks to be filled up much further with that amazing fantasy vision of his. It looks to be chock full of weird and beautiful goth fantasy steammecha.

And it's nice to be going to a film where I'm presumably not going to cry my eyes out.

Link from OOT link.

Really? The LOTR Director isn't doing them after all? I've lost track of the back and forthing with that.

If it was anyone else except for del Toro doing the Hobbit Movies instead, I'd be appalled. This could be quite interesting.

Who is doing the sequel/prequel thingy to the Dark Crystal?

IMDB FAQ on who is directing the film

Peter Jackson is producing The Hobbit, but not directing.

What is concerning me is this line from the press release:

* MGM and New Line will co-finance and co-distribute two films, The Hobbit and a sequel to The Hobbit. New Line will distribute in North America and MGM will distribute internationally.

*snip*

Currently, New Line is planning on dividing the Hobbit into two separate films, most sources say that the first will cover material from 'The Hobbit', and the second will be a bridge to 'The Lord of the Rings' (and thus be based on new material). Reasons why, respective titles, and other details are unclear at this time.

A sequel to The Hobbit? A "bridge" to LOTR? WTF? There IS no bridge to LOTR. The Ring sits in Bilbo's pocket for 60 years, end of f'ucking story.

Erm, hearsay tells me that the Hobbit film "sequel" has stuff in it from Tolkien's Simarillion, or some short stories somewhere.

Perhaps the story will be set in Bilbo's pocket! A love story between a piece of lint and a cracker crumb, torn apart by the jealousy of an old Polo Mint!

During the filming of Hellboy 2, Neil Gainman daughter, was guest writer on his blog. She had lots of pictures from the set and as fun to read as Neil.

My going to con's is just a plot, so someday get to be a friend to Neil Gainman. So far I made several friends with few people, who he is friends with.

Peter Jackson and New Line got into a rather ugly legal battle over the royalties of the DVD's or such I believe which is why he is out of the game.

As for Gaiman, well I am actually starting to like him. American Gods and Anasazi Boys were 'meh' but I picked up Stardust and liked, really liked Good Omens with Pratchett and I am currently working on Coraline.
