I know we've done this before. Most of us straight guys are baffled when wimminz say "Ooh, such-and-suchaguy is so hawt" and we think "Oh rly? Smiley: dubious"

I think we all agreed last time that Johnny Depp is the exception that proves the rule.

I was reminiscing with the noblet this evening and mentioned that if you're trying to pull teh laydeez, make sure your wingman is uglier than you.

I then mentioned David Sylvian and had to explain who he was, and why I quit hanging around with him because he proved to be a significant detractor to my 'hitting on' attempts. I would always end the evening drinking alone while he was fighing off hawties with a Shitty stick. (Dunno if Sylvian or his band made it in the USA and is known to you).

The same applies to the fairer sex. . . A number of straight girls I knew back in the 80s said they'd contemplate Saffic tendencies if it meant they could have a go on Kate Bush.

So. . . any 80s icons of the same sex as you that you acknowledge as being tasty?

You were friends with David Sylvian?

Did you call him David Sylvian? Or just Dave?

I can barely remember last week, let alone the 80's.

Anywhoooo...Mr. Tare will freely admit a serious man-crush on Clive Owen, whilst I prefer mah girl, Monica. (NSFW)

Bloom

My favorite episode of Extras is the one where he's insecure about how he looks compared with Johnny Depp.

I loved Extras! I thought the final show was well done.

I especially loved that Ricky Gervais used his, "Are you havin' a laugh?" catch phrase in Stardust.

I thought Extras was quite awful. It was zero subtelty, it was self-indulgent and self-referential, the jokes were obvious, and repeated six times, just in case, the characters were all one-dimensional caricatures... It felt like tv's equivalent of estate agents.

I did like his agent, though, and the last episode for comic relief was quite funny.

And I think bob marley is quite sexy.

They co-produced Extras, too.

Well.

Everything being relative in this world, bbc 1 and 2 are still some of the best goddamn ************* channels around. I've got god knows how many channels, and i still spend half my tv time watching the beeb. 99.9% of cable sucks, ITV is beyong repair, and C4 is mostly miss, and sometimes, rarely, when the planets are just right, randomly hit. And don't get me started on french tv, which is stuck in 70s. And thats french 70s.

But bbc, man... Jools holland, question time, politics show, the attenborough stuff, match of the day, newsnight, the office, alan partridge, well, i'm not gonnalist my tv schedule, but as far as tv goes, it rocks.

Speaking of Rome...

I can't really think of any woman who had her hey-day in the 80s that I found particularly attractive, but I think that Indira Varma may be the most beautiful woman I've ever seen, and if I had even an ounce of sappho in my body, I'd totally be into her.

NM, I lied, I can think of a late-80s, early-90s woman I've always thought was gorgeous. In my typical geek fashion, I give you Marina Sirtis. I wanted to be Troi when I grew up.

Now that I look at these, it occurs to me for possibly the first time that I might just have a thing for big noses. Among the guys I'd bonk in a heartbeat are David Duchovny and David Wenham.

Once is a fluke, twice a coincidence, three times a trend, four times a...fetish?

Oh and Ambrya, I had a mad crush on David Duchovny circa The X-Files, but for me, it was about the lower lip and overall geekiness (the awkwardness plus the smarts)of the character. I see him in anything else and it's just not there.

Yeah there's something about the two characters, Scully and Mulder. Gillian Anderson doens't attract me when she's herself, but Scully is Smiley: drool2

I loved how Mulder was the one that was really good talking to the interviewees... he was really good at empathy. And he got emotionally involved in the cases. Scully stayed uninvolved, and she was always the first to draw her gun in dangerous situations. There was a bit of Scully-rescuing, but I loved how most of the time, it was Scully riding in on her white charger and rescuing Mulder.
