Fun April's Fool Game!Follow

#1 Apr 01 2008 at 3:13 AM Rating: Good
I know, I know, just reading the words "fun" and "game" in a thread made by a Frenchman is enough to send cold shivers of terror down your spines. Or, failing that, puslating waves of indifference.

Nonetheless. On this day, it is customary for newspapers to release one story which is an April's fool. Sometimes it's **** easy to find out which one it is, and sometimes it's quite hard. For each, I shall give a AFDPR (April Fools Day Probability Rating).

That's what I've found so far, on this side of the pond.

The Guardian's "Calling Carla: Brown enlists first lady to give Britain style". I especially enjoyed the line:
Quote:
Continental good taste and sophistication should be a birthright for all, says PM

AFDPR: 9/10

The BBC's "Harman defends wearing stab vest" a funny story about a Minister walking around her constituency in South London in a stab vest!! That place is a 5 mins walk from where I work, and it's safe as hell during the day. As if...

AFDPR: 7/10

Hmm. Turns out its not an April's fool day story, since it seems to be ona ll news sites... What a stupid ****.

The Telegraph's Flying Penguins Story is kinda cute, but come on. Flying penguins? Do they have laz0r-beams too?

AFDPR: 7/10

Then we have The Sun's* hilarious Turtle smoking story, about a turtle who got addicted to cigarettes. Yeah, right.

AFDPR: 8/10

Hmm, actually, this might've been true, since I've found The Sun's stupid story about a UFO on Google Earth. Kinda lame. But does it mean the Turle story is true?

AFDPR: 9/10

Hmmm, well, actuafact, the UFO story might've been true sicne I've found the Sun's story about "Docs to extend small Sarko". So, 3 April's Fool day, or just a really slow news day for the Sun?

AFDPR: 10/10

And, more importantly, what have you found so far?

* For those that don't know, The Sun is a tabloid owned by Murdoch, which represents the very worst the exists in the UK: racism, discrimination, lazy thinking, xenophobia, hypocrisy, demonising entire communities and vulnerable groups, and of course, being profoundly Little England right-wing moralising preaching lying bastards. Like Fox news, but in print.

The turtle story is true. I saw a video of it a few days ago.
