...and I'm not under the impression that she's actually writing these emails herself, but I find it irritating that she has to constantly refer to Hillary as "my mom". Yes, she's your mother, but it's getting silly. One or two references might be enough for one email don't you think? Ok, an example for those of you not on the Hillary for Prez list:

Quote:

Dear Nexa,

Contribute today and you could see Hillary and Elton

When I heard that Elton John was throwing a concert in New York for my mom's campaign, I knew it was going to be a night I didn't want to miss.

Want to join me there?

My mom's campaign is bringing two supporters and their guests to New York on April 9 for both Elton John's one-night-only concert and the party after the concert. It's going to be a great night and a great time.

It's such an important time to support my mom's campaign. There are big contests coming up, starting with Pennsylvania, and I know she can win with your support. She's working so hard out on the campaign trail, and I know that your support makes a real difference to her and this campaign.

Enter now and you might join me, my mom, and Elton John for his one-night-only concert in New York on April 9. Make a contribution today.

I talk to a lot of people who are excited to see my mom win and be the president we all need -- and who are working hard to help make that happen. It means so much to me to know that there are so many people like you who believe in my mom and are working to help her win. I know that she'll be such a great president and she will win, but not without all our help. And what better time to help than right now?

Please contribute today. Enter and you might be joining me, my mom, and Elton John for a concert in New York!

I'm so grateful for everything you're doing to help my mom win!

Thank you!
Chelsea

Yeah, I'm irritable in general today...whatofit!?

The first time I read it I thought the 'my mom' stuff was WAY over the top, but I had been swayed by Nexa's subtle, yet clever, ploy of highlighting the phrase.

I over-highlighted the whole thing and read it again, and while a couple 'my moms' could have been left out, it wasn't really that bad.

My daughter still calls me 'mommy' (she's 22). Smiley: tongue

I'm sorry. Smiley: frown

I'll try to be more irritable according to the ever-changing dictates of the Asylum mood swings.

Obama invited me to dinner with him. That'd be much more awesome than watching Elton John sing "Candle in the Wind (English Rose)".

Her appearance has little to do with it actually. She could be just as much as a fat, vile, and putrid ***** as Katie, and I'd still hit it.

Basically, I want to release my yogurt slinger into the Clintons. Bragging rights if you will.

That's sort of funny, given the email copied in the OP.

When I hit about 19, Mum started feeling weirded out by us calling her Mum, with us so grown up and mature. However, my sister had spent time on exchange in Austria, and came back with the word "Mutti". (pronounced with short, sharp "oo" and "ee" sounds. "moott-ee") Mum decided "Mutti" sounded cute and cool, and compromised with us that we could call her that, since WE felt weirded out calling her by her first name.

Mutti still likes me to hold her hand when we go walking down the street together. Smiley: blush

Aww, so adorable.

I was actually annoyed by the clip they played on the news a couple of days ago about the college kid who asked her about what her take was on how her mother handled the Lewinsky affair. It would have been a great opportunity to touch on her mother's past comments, her strength, to stress the difficulty of it and how well she negotiated it. I don't think she needed to get into specifics, but telling someone that no one had asked it on 70 campuses (what were they, asleep?) and saying it was none of their business is rude. You invited a question, it's not a private issue, your father was IMPEACHED over it. Hell, if anything, just say "I can see where you would think that question is pertinent, but I don't broach that topic".
It's not an issue for me, but I've heard older women say they don't want to vote for her because they feel she let Bill walk all over her for political gain, and she could have brought some humanity to Hillary, which always seems to help her in the polls. It pisses me off that she's too precious for it.

You failed as a mother. As a side note, every woman I've met who call her mother "mommy" beyond the age of 11 likes candle wax dripped on her nipples while you ******* her.

Your millage may vary, of course.

/snicker.

My flatmates used to change things around the house and lay bets on when I would finally notice them. I never noticed the Sonic the Hedgehog dangling upside down from the loungeroom light fitting, until they finally had a laughing fit over it one day.

We also have Allakhazam the mage, Kaolian the mage, Danalog the Priest, Pikko the Paladin, and Magi's lump the mage.

If it helps - she use the term with just the slightest hint of condenscension in her voice.
