An opportunity to be rid of me.Follow

So no offense to you guys, but some days the participation isn't high and I need additional stimulation (hesitant of that word choice). I've been googlin for a bit, but no real luck in finding anything Asylum-esque with sufficient participation. Any forums that you know of that you could pawn me off on?

As not to provide a false sense of hope (or the less likely feeling of disappointment), I should note that you won't actually be rid of me.

I was always invested in the Damn Hell *** Kings Group of online sites. Mostly Fametracker forums when they were active back in the day. And televisionwithoutpity boards before they were bought out by Bravo.

...they're OT forum is disturbingly active. I wonder if all Canadian hockey league fan sites are sources of such active discussion of current events.

WtF?

You pose yourself as a reasonably intelligent human being. You got the world-wide-interwaves at your fingertips. Not only that, you're telling us you rely on the web for stimulations. Yet this forum bores you but you're lacking the ability to find a one of your liking??

The considerable majority of my time here or websurfing in general is done during on-call hours at work where there is little else to do. I prefer intelligent discourse for passing the time to my alternatives, but some days it's very slow here, so I'm looking for other places to supplement my dark desires. I'm not sure wherein the confusion lies.

It's the same reaction I had, actually. I think the problem is in the phrasing. A simple "So, where do you waste time when you're not here?" would probably have gotten your point across better, and netted more replies.

I read a few blogs, some other forums, Fark, icanhascheezburger.com. a few others.

I read the Straight Dope Message Board forums but they're on a subscription basis to post after the 1st month. Still, it's good reading -- there's *ahem* frequent posters here who'd be laughed out of Great Debates in an eyeblink.

The xkcd webcomic forums have a pretty good amount of intelligent discourse. The demographic is generally a bit young (think upper teens), but I have yet to encounter the braindead swarms typical of, say, forum=10. For instance, this thread is just plain genius.

Well, maybe, but I don't really care what you all do when you're not here. I was just selfishly imposing a request for an alternate source of serious discourse, baited with the fact that I'm not exactly the most welcome poster here.

I do visit icanhascheezburger on occasion, and thanks for the suggestions (all).

What exactly makes you think I'd want to inflict you upon yet another forum I browse? I mean, there are posters I just skim on every board; I don't need another.

Oh, you're not trying. Look at the celebrity-specific categories on the left side. Hours of fun stalking rich, badly-dressed people.

The best ones are the fake Britney and JLo blogs.

I browse a few that aren't banned at work, like Fug, Politico, the NY Times, Washington Post and Chicago Tribune, and Slate. Most don't have true 'forums'. What they do is collect all their comments into threads categorized by the article they refer to.
