The *** in Asylum?Follow

#1 Mar 19 2008 at 2:56 AM Rating: Default
Where did it go? A ten year-old Asian meth-fiend has more '***' than this place. Or any Asian for that matter - and that's really saying something - but that's beside the point.

Looking at the front page, what do I see? A dozen political threads. Wow, political threads. Great. I've been meaning to catch up on my boring. I'm not saying I'm above the influence of media effecting my opinion, but I am saying that I'm unlikely to have my opinion swayed by some yokel in Kentucky who roleplays (err, used to roleplay) a dark elf paladin because he can less eloquently re-articulate the garbage he heard Robert Novak produce an hour earlier on CNN, and I'm certainly not going to be impressed by some halfwit who expectantly waits for a pat on the back from the board because he somehow managed to cut-and-paste some whacko liberal article he found by the AP.

And then there's some unclickworthy crap about homeschooling, which, as should be self-evident by now, I know nothing about because it was unfcukingclickworthy.

Let's not forget the scintillating piece by Alla concerning his travails with the IRS. At least, I'm assuming that's what the post was about judging by it's title, but again, as you've probably guessed it, it sounded too fcuking boring to investigate, so I don't really know. It could have been a monologue from Step Up 2: The Streets, how the hell would I know? But, ya gotta consider the source. Any response to anything he's ever said has resulted from one of two things: 1. Sympathy. 2. Ingratiating Sychophancy. But hey, that's great. It's a small consolation for a website that's slowly dying. Smell the flowers while you can, that's what I say.

Oh, and then there was the announcement regarding Arthur C. Clarke's death. Yeah, that came in handy. Now that's a complicated issue. I didn't fully understand all of the story's far-reaching implications when it originally unfolded 22 hours earlier and I heard on the radio that he'd died. Or when I'd read online that he was dead. Or when I passed by the TV any of the 37 times that day and saw that he was no longer among us. Or when I learned from a co-worker that Mr. Clarke had passed away at age 90. Or when I read a half dozen blog articles that mentioned his death. No, it really all came together when I read about it here. What the **** is wrong with you people? There are only 14 active posters on this forum. Is it really such an accomplishment to be one of the first 12 of those 14 people to post a redundant article? If so, I have a doozy for you!

THIS JUST IN: Scribblesmith just took a dump!

Don't worry. I'm here now. You may not like me. Maybe I irritated you a little. Maybe I made you LOI. Maybe I gave you gas. Whatever the **** you're feeling, it's gotta be more interesting than the catatonia that prophesied my advent. I won't post much. Rarely even. But I'll make you a happier person.

That looks like BT's voice to me.

It's affecting, not effecting, in that context.

Hang on, what is BT doing up at this time of night?

BT would have found a much more colorful word than "Dump."

And since when did BT ever feel the need of a sock to spew derision from?

Actually, that reminds me. I was going to suggest to BT he make a sock, that only ever said nice things. Non-sarcastic nice things. I thought that would be sufficiently challenging to him that he might actually wind up being creative.

Smiley: lol That sock would be jizzed in briefly for the lulz, then it would sit, hardening, in the back of a dresser drawer somewhere.

If one was to be serious about a sock, one should make the effort to get 60 or so posts into a game forum, answering quick questions, so that when one hit the OOT or the As one would look more like an innocent newbie.

I do, especially when they're new and fluffy and warm from the dryer. But I can see you as more of the frolicking-barefoot-in-the-fields type. Or pregnant-and-barefoot-in-the-kitchen type.

Nah, not Thundras MO. Thundra would have jumped in with this wonderfully elaborate story of STDs, Nipple rings and fish. In the end he'd have ****** Kao, called DF a ***** and taunted Jeff while not ever actually including them in the story. That guy could push some buttons.

That was my exact line of thinking, hahaha. When has the asylum *not* had a dozen (or more) political threads on the front page? Smiley: lol

There's a thread on gay marriage, Howard Dean for DNC Chairman, Califonia secession, etc....hell, we manage to take threads about cheese and make them INTO a political thread anyway.

But it was also a lot more active because Off Topic threads were actually allowed to run their course back then.

meh, there's a good and bad to that. I like the option of strolling over to the OOT for mindless drivel, but feeling relatively sure that when there's a new post in here, clicking won't reveal a "Last", "NOU", "rate me down", or whatever...mostly.
