Totally and how I totally wish that you meant Fidel Castro because it would be awesome to see him do a rumba with Jenny Garth of 90210.

If that is what passes for pop 'culture' in the west, I'm going to convert to Islam and go and get me a piece of that devotional singing. Thats what i would call 'culture'.

If a society can be judged by its recreational pursuits, the western world is utterly f'ucked.

Televised dance competitions.... FFS? Get a grip.

You seriously thought about posting this in the asylum and then went through with it? Have you ever read a thread in here about their feelings on pop culture? They tear it apart and then pour ketchup on it for feasting purposes. You deserve any flames tossed at you for following this, whatever the hell it is, as much as you do. Posting a pretty long comment about it is a whoooole other level of idiocy. You may be able to earn an iota of respect back if you can name the 3 main candidates and at least 3 of their positions.

Ehh - pop culture - oh well - it is very much a part of the society we live in. Whether you like it or not, it's part of you as well. For instance: If I were to play the theme song from "Friends," probably 99% of people would recognize it. Even if you never actually watched "friends," you knew the song was in itself the theme song.

So whether we like it or not, it's part of our society. And even more so, it is creeping into foreign societies. So just because you think pop culture is a mute point does not mean the rest of the world does. While I can not agree with everything happening in the world, pop culture is here - and it has been for some time.

You can fight it all you want, but the end result is - pop culture continues despite whether you like it or not. You are entitled to your opinion and when stated properly - is respected.

And yes - i know exactly how much pop culture is hated in these forums. But don't you think the forum, which is designated as an "OOT" forum, desreves more than political debates. I am not saying that you are wrong for posting them, but come on - just about every post is about politics - it has turned from an OOT forum to a "Politics" forum.

If you want a politics forum - ask Allakhazam to put up a politics forum. Otherwise - accept the fact that I dont have to talk about politics

What do you mean deserves more then just politics? Politics, news and current events are probably up there with science and history as some of the most important things (excluding love, family, etc.) The OUT OF TOPIC!!!!!!! forum is for everything else and I will admit the asylum's description may be a little misleading, but it helps to root out people like you. Also pop culture is a not a river. It does not flow, it does not slow down and wind across the land. Pop culture is like an earthquake. Something BIG happens and everybody pays attention then aftershocks happen and people start caring less, but notice the aftershocks. Eventually the aftershocks are so weak no one cares anymore and looks for a new thing to pay attention to.

The 50's culture died, the 60's culture died, the 70's the 80's and the 90's died too. Sure people still like some things from those eras, music, movies, shows, but the culture as a whole died. The current culture will die whether you want it to or not doesn't matter. That is why I find getting so caught up in pop culture is a stupid thing to do. Whether by debating why modern culture is retarded or by following its every move. Both extremes need to reevaluate how they spend their time. They need to use that time to better help humanity. I admit I need to do the same. I spend way too much time on the internet and not enough bettering myself and my community.

Take it elswhere.

Should breaksk8 have continued - or do you think it was not worth it. Just because you have a different opinion doesn't mean my choice was different.

read what happens and learn to distinguich between polotics and rights

Yes, but I am condemning you and I have not turned this into politics. It may be your right to be able to do what you want in your spare time, but it is your DUTY to better yourself and humanity as a whole. I do not see how watching groups of people dance betters yourself or humanity. I am not saying you should be banned from watching this stuff I am saying that if you follow it enough for it to visibly upset you then you have done something wrong. This program does not alter your life unless you let it. This program will not decide what will happen in the future. This program will never decide what your rights are and it will certainly never be able to terminate your life. Things like current events and politics do.

That is why this is forum is separate from the OOT. The OOT is a funny, happy, random place and the asylum is more serious and usually more well thought out posts. Compare Jophiels well constructed debates in here to Usagi's YOUR MOM retorts and you will see the reason for a separate forums. It may say it is for OOT talking, but the actual OOT says non-gaming subjects and doesn't include the feint of heart clause. If you admit this was the wrong place to post this I will most likely stop tormenting you. One of the things that makes us human is the ability to learn from mistakes and this was certainly a mistake.

edit: words I used were a little too extreme and made me look a bit dum

You want an honest opinion on this pile of **** excuse for entertainment? Well fine here is my honest to Bob opinion on it. The Breaksk8 guys lost. You and them may not like it and it may have pissed of some people, but what is done is done. We will likely see them show up again in some sort of bizarre plot twist. Now imagine what I have said above in the most angry voice possible.

Barring a few posters, it isn't all that well thought-out, especially in regard to politics. It gets so predictable, I wonder why some people even bother debating anymore. It's politics as entertainment. Talking about actual entertainment just removes that thin veneer.

I don't think that this thread is necessarily appropriate but I also think that someone does need to take some of the **** out of some of the Asylumites. My amusement here isn't that deep though. I just think it's funny. I'm tired.

First off, Fook Me is the only one worth a crap on Dancing with the Stars.

Secondly, this is the political season so we talks politics. Come football season we talk pigskin. So on and so forth. If you don't like politics go to the OOT where they discuss toenails or their latest bout with genital herpes. Whatever. However, as a guest in our house you don't make the decisions on what we eat, where we sleep, or when we ****. So for acting uppity I'm giving you, c0ckgarge, a very rarely administered rate-down-- and I hope my fellow Asylumites will follow suit until you grovel appropriately and beg our ****-in' forgiveness.

Woopsie meant to put in the word "more" in there. I do admit it is just a different sort of entertainment, but it is a whole lot more thought provoking then pieces of fruit and vegetables that look like people, genitals and anuses

Boo Hoo - like i stated before - you can read another topic. Just because it is the "political season" doesn't mean I have to talk about it. Politics isn't the only thing to talk about.
Actually I rarely get mad at this sort of stuff. I got mad in this thread after you kept dodging questions with the skill of a wall.
