Has anyone ever tried a 'vertical mouse'.

I need a new mouse here at work, and feel like trying something new.

Mousing suggestions?

They suck. I know people who love trackballs and swear by them but I could never get the hang of it. I'm not the most patient guy in the world when it comes to muscle memory at this point.

Back when my tendonitis was really bad, I used a roller bar mouse keyboard as a supplement to my regular mouse. Switching back and forth and clicking with my thumb instead of my index finger was hugely helpful.

I don't know if you just want something new for fun or health reasons, but just thought I'd offer that up. I haven't tried the one you linked.

Edit: Spelling is teh hard.

My wrist gets sore if I do too much mousing (powerpoint = tehdevil), but I think it's just cuz I'm using some old hand-me-down mouse that is BIG and it's losing it's responsivness. I use a small but standard type mouse at home and don't have any problems.

Work is a good place to experiment. If I end up hating some accessory there's always someone else willing to take it and use it.

I know a couple people who like those, but I can't fully express my burning hatred for any sort of track ball. They're right up there with those little touch pad things on laptops.

I use the Marble trackball by Logitech at home. I love it - I have limited space on my desk, so using a mouse that doesn't have to take up a lot of real estate is good for me. I'm left handed, so the trackball on top works for me.

i so hear you. i used to be like that until i got a contract job (lasted about 2 years) were i had to use one daily. i got to the point i HATE normal mouse devices as they end up hurting my shoulder and wrist due to the strange range of motion you must maintain for detailed control over graphics (was doing it for page layouts and stuff using PageMaker 6.5 atm).

the real hard part was getting used to playing games with it. Now i refuse to go back to a normal mouse if it can be avoided.

Equivalent. Better for some stuff; also if I wanted to move the trackball to my right side and use it right handed, I could have both.

It's weird, how much of an advantage it is being left-handed with keyboarding, especially in games.

I found it slightly amusing that they had to specify both Macintoshes and iMacs in the OP item link.

My mouse is a Logitech G5 gaming mouse. I love the touchpad on my old-*** Dell laptop in conjunction with a mouse; I've often considered getting a fullsize keyboard with built-in touchpad for the desktop.

I still use the Microsoft 5-button optical mouse...that original model that came out in like 2000. I haven't found any of those hi-tech gaming mice to be as well-shaped to my hand, nor do they have side buttons as easy to push.
