Driving a car for a living would be phenominally dangerous.
Actually whether or not driving to and from work is more dangerous then working at a university I don't know off the top of my head, but my naieve guess is that the driving is more dangerous (of course it depends on distance, traffic, etc). I wouldn't be surprised if it was, say, 10 times moreso.
