It was a dark and stormy night. The snow was coming down fast and furious, then changing to sleet and ice. The roads were treacherous; people were stranded all over town. Even the hospital had trouble getting their shifts covered.
None of this prevented my baby from coming into the world!
Thom Robert was born at 7:31 Tuesday, February 12th 2008. I took mommy to the hospital at 9:30 that morning to be admitted. At around noon she was given some sort of pill to induce labor. That took several hours, so I went home and cleaned up a bit. By 5:30 or so her contractions were coming fast and heavy, so things went into motion. Eventually the pain got so bad she asked for an epidural, but before they got it to her the baby popped out! Everything's fine; he's got all the parts he's supposed to - ten up, ten down, one in the middle. After a clean-up he went right to mommy's boob and started nursing. After about an hour they took him away to the nursery for maintenance and check-up; 5.5 lbs and 18.5 inches. We were moved to another room and stayed there all night, nursing every two hours or so. We even got pizza delivered to the hospital.
I've got pics but I just got back home (the other two will be coming home tomorrow) and I need some real sleep so I'll put the pics up from work later on.
Woohoo!
