I don't know how many of you have seen this already, but it's new to me.

Here is a 3 minute video of two well known and old computer software technologies put together, to create something utterly simple and yet, to me, intensely charming and magical.

    Crayon Physics Deluxe.

Here is a simpler, free, prototype version of the game featured in the video, if you want to try it yourself: Linky.

The full version of the game featured in the video isn't actually finished, apparently. But you can sign up to be informed when it is: Linky.

I've played a game like that before. Well, it wasn't a game, you just drew a line and it reacted. I was proud of the catapult I made in it.

This looks awesome. Smiley: thumbsup

Any technology, when it is sufficiently advanced, is indistinguishable from magic.

Nice to know we are walking down that route.

Nicely done game, as well.

Neat little game. I'm not too optimistic at how well it will turn out in application (if gravity remains as the only source of kinetic energy, gameplay will get stale quickly), but the technology is impressive. Reminds me of an old PC game called The Incredible Machine, and is similar in concept.

That's kinda cute; I hope it's around in three years when I start teaching the baby how to use the computer.

Yeah, no shit, asshole. That was the allusion made in the thread title, and while there it would have been pointless and inconvenient to credit Clarke with the quote, you not doing so in your post just makes you an unoriginal fucking plagiarist.

Good first impression.

Your mother's a *****. You like to jack off dogs. That's right, you heard me. You like to grab that dog by the bone and rub it like a ski pole. Your dad? Gay. Your priest? Straight. **** off and let me post. It's not true, it's all in good fun. Now go away.

There is a version of this game already available for the iPhone and the iPod Touch if you have "jailbroken" it to allow 3rd party apps. It also utilizes the tilt feature, so you can tilt the iPod to make shapes move downward. Both the standard levels and the "sandbox" mode are great fun.

Imagine: the more mana points you have, the larger a boulder you can draw above a mob to drop on it.

Nifty video and I generally hate randomly posted YouTube videos.

I didn't try the prototype game largely because I knew it wouldn't live up to the game shown.

Yeah, it doesn't let you draw anything except squares in the provided link. It was a big let-down.

I think this could be even more brilliant when put to use by small children as a mind-shaping activity. I'm going to borrow one of the tablets from work and play it with my young nephew when it's completed. He's at that age where he loves to practice his handwriting and is very artistic, so I'm thinking this will spark his interest.

Edit: Also, for whatever reason, it reminded me of Linerider.
