Clinton Makes Stunning Offer To Obama
NEWS CENTER has learned that Sen. Hillary Clinton and her campaign have extended an invitation to Barack Obama to join them at the town hall meeting in Orono Saturday morning.
Kathleen Strand, the head of the Clinton campaign in Maine, says their joint appearance would give voters an opportunity to compare and contrast both candidates before Sunday's Democratic Caucus. The Obama camp has yet to respond to the offer. We'll have much more on this story tonight on NEWS CENTER beginning at 5pm.

Hillary is scheduled to speak on campus at 9:30 on Saturday morning. Obama is scheduled to speak at the Bangor Auditorium (less than 10 miles away) at 2:30ish in the afternoon. I think someone probably told Hillary's folks that not only is Obama more popular, leading to a low turn out at her event, but that college kids don't like getting up to go to things at 9:30 on a Saturday morning. My guess is that she's hoping more that having both of them there will keep from the comparisons in attendance at the two events being made.
