I don't care for her either way myself, but this obsession people have with attacking her is getting tired. Then again, I don't deal with her much outside of the forum as I'm rarely on that devil program, Skype, and I ignore almost everyone on Ventillo.
On the forums you simply can't appreciate Melody completely. You get little hints at the great sea of crazy, but it takes more exposure to truly understand.

Ah. This probably explains my own indifference, then.

I guess I don't care very strongly in either direction except that the near constant barrage of attacks have surpassed tiresome and have moved on to vapid, clingy, needy, attention whoring. Surely there's something else to talk about to get attention rather than "acting out". If people really think that she's got some sort of mental illness, that makes it all the worse in my mind that they would be so persistant in exploiting her weaknesses for the not even particularly thrilling entertainment value.

Of course, I'm no licensed clinical counselor or anything, so I wouldn't be willing to make such a diagnosis. If I were, I'd surely be more professional than to make such statements on an internet message board.

Oh well, I'm entertained by intellectually stimulating conversation with the occasional sprinkling of silliness. Junior-high style attacks on other people that serve no purpose but to stake a claim in some after-school-special "you are who you hang out with" clique just don't do it for me.

I suppose your mileage may vary.

I don't like everyone. I'm liking fewer and fewer people by the second, as a matter of fact.

I don't hate her. I do find her annoying; but not to such an extent that I need to vent it all day.

The constant barrage of attacks are within a context of someone who has continually poked various people in the forum. You might think it is tiresome because you have been relatively uninvolved but you haven't spent night after night having someone constantly message you with guilt trips. While in the end, that isn't a big deal, it isn't exactly one-sided attacks.

And the reality that nothing unites a group of people like a common enemy. For better or for worse, she is in the line of fire. It'll lessen in time-- most likely if she backs off. People have been nice about it but I think that this is an indication of collective frustration.

There are people on these forums who have frustrated me for years. I would never find a need to start an entire thread just to discuss how much I dislike them, to insult them, or to wish ill upon their children. Again, to each their own.

I also learned to ignore people before kindergarten. Maybe that has something to do with it.

I don't find that necessary as much as I would like the ability to block/refuse PM's from people...or is that what you meant?

It is, really. I've talked to you a few times about how I was holding back from saying things because I didn't want to hurt her, and that's just not something I generally do. Seeing her behavior over the past ten days--especially what she posted in =28 this morning--I have lost any desire to hold back anymore.

It's one thing to frustrate people on the boards. It's entirely another to have someone bypass the boards, contact people through other means and then seem upset when people set limits. Sooner or later, people are going to get really mad about that and really set harsh limits since everything else has been unsuccessful. There have been some major boundary violations in this whole thing and something that has more than occupied the time and energy of people even when the don't want to look at the board. She has persistently ignored limit setting by other members.

I thought we could already do that? The only issue, if I remember correctly, is that it constantly shows you have an unread PM, you just can't see it because you've got the sender blocked.

My problem with her is that she does something to attract attention, then goes to admins to make it stop. You want it to stop? Stop posting. Simple, clean, easier on us.

You don't like nude pics of you circulating? Don't take any.

You don't like people railing on your children? DO NOT POST PICTURES OF THEM TO THE VERY COMMUNITY THAT IS RAILING ON THEM.

I'm sure she's a very nice person, but she also causes the admins stress, which is where I start getting annoyed.

Well, sub-defaulting kinda works.

But, more importantly, what the fUck is going on?

First Katie goes all hippie and luvvy on us.

Then she invites half of the OOT here.

Then you guys turn out to be demonic hate monsters who post pictures of cats and of Kaain's small *****. Or did I dream it?

And finally, its left to the Asylumites to defend the poor and downtrodden through kind words and unabashed humanity.

If BT were dead, he'd turn in his grave.

And so would his duck.

She is a nice person. She just has some serious emotional issues, and I'm frankly tired of her inflicting them on anyone who will listen. That's what therapists are for.

I won't pretend to know what you're talking about, but something in me is asking how one person is capable of "occupying the time and energy of people" without their permission to do so. If someone PM'd me, I could ignore it, if someone messaged me, I could ignore or block it, if someone called me, I guess I'd be asking myself why I'm not more to blame for giving out enough personal information to be called. I appreciate the fact that you and others may be frustrated, but you seem to be of the mind that you're entirely blameless. You think she is attention seeking, so you give her attention and then you're surprised that she continues to seek you out. /boggle

If people don't want to be contacted by someone, perhaps creating entire threads about them, their family, etc, shouldn't be created on a public message board, eh?
