We have routine electoral choices between priveliged old-school-tie toffs.

You get to choose between an black person, an gurl, an ****, an God-botherer and an wrinkly old fossil.

You lucky bastages.

Yes, we're very lucky that we have the privelege of choosing a leader based on a democratic, majority wins process. Oh wait .. that's not the US.

The US presidency is handed out to whoever has better connections at the last minute. More than once the person receiving the most votes has lost the election, due to the swift intervention of the Electoral College. Of course, once the presidency was won through the courts, who decided which votes would count and which to toss.

Votes don't count as much as money and connections.

I bet she'd get more votes than Hillary. There were / are people trying to change the constitution to allow foreign-borns to be elected president, with the goal of seeing Shwarzenegger in the White House. If such a thing ever came to pass, I'd much rather see Baroness Thatcher in the oval office.

What "swift intervention"? The Electoral College meets in December. You don't win by having the most popular votes, you win by having the most Electoral votes. No "swift intervention" required.

I was undecided until last night. Down to only two choices of candidates, Hilary blew it last night as far as I'm concerned when Wolf asked her point blank if she'd made a mistake voting for the original act to authorize use of force against Iraq. She said 'no'. Arrogant *****.

Man, are Americans still running with that naïve mentality that people in the UK have bad teeth?
What's next, a warm beer joke, or a crack about soccer hooliganism?

Oh, and Nobby, sweetheart, you only listed the Democrat choices.
Since I'm living amongst them now, I can translate for you.

He prefers to be called Mr Obama.

This would be Mz. Clinton.

I believe they have these things called 'Repuberlicans', but I can't find them for all the f'tardery in my way.

I must step in at this point. I lived in London England for 6 months and it was not at all uncommon to see someone in their early 20's with missing or rotten teeth. I can assure you, that is not common in the USA at all. No I didn't do a scientific study but it was something I saw frequently and was quite shocked about. I honestly thought Americans had just been "taking the ****" but no they weren't sadly!

We have far worse dental health than in USA, cask ale is warmer than chilled US-style beers and we have more thuggery at soccer matches than USA has in its organised sports. They're simple facts.

What's your point, diCkwad?

And my reason for citing dummycrats is that the pubbies are as 'old boy network' as our own system.

Thanks for going to the states and raising the average IQ back here Smiley: rolleyes

Well I merely stated my observation it doesn't take a genius to notice people with bad teeth even when in a club smashed. A handsome guy walking up to me and saying hello and then smiling at me with 2 missing front teeth was more than disturbing to me. Call me superficial or something I guess.

I don't hate the British I wouldn't have lived there for 6 months, I was not required to be there any longer than a month. I decided to stay longer and some of them were pretty good fu cks actually!

I think people in the UK are far more judgemental toward Americans than the other way around. I have personally seen Britsh guys in the US that get a lot of attention for simply being Britsh. While I was there and I would tell people I was from the US. I almost had to work harder to impress them which was odd. I think the problem is most of the guys I met had been to the US (making it not such a novelty)several times before or maybe it was the fact that most of the country is so American. I went straight to England from Miami and felt more like I was in America in London than I did in South Beach Fla. McDonald's and Blockbusters on every other corner, atleast there they all spoke english ><

I'd love to see you stand in Temple Bar or O'Connell street and shout "Shane MaGown is a Brit"

It's spelled "Shelelagh" and would kill you to death in nano-seconds Smiley: tongue

and raised in Edmonton.

I repeat. Tell a Dubliner that Shane's a Brit and you'll die quickly.

The Duke of Wellington (who defteated Napoleon at Waterloo) was born in Ireland, said that a Pig born in a stable is still a pig, not a horse.
