Not to mention, politics is not the ONLY acceptable subject. It's just the main one that changes often enough to still keep a discussion going.

I've always enjoyed the Asylum, its a shame its been as slow as its been. Maybe a small influx of posters will breath some life back into it.

If it's any indication, hop on over to the OOT and look at my thread. I think I would have gotten less **** for the thread here than there (though no one is going to admit that now). Hell, a couple people might have even helped me out... and while you're there, please do so.

It sucks being reminded you're not as worldly smart as you thought you were. Ignorance is bliss and all that crap. Really though, anytime I have a comment to make, I do so over here anyway. I just know the posters of the OoT better and feel more comfortable over there. If this place were more lively, I'd likely be over here more often.

And sorry Joph, I vote Liberal more often than not up here, so I can't argue the conservative side too often.

I'm not sure how I feel about self-hating anarchists, perhaps if I could have a copy of their latest zine, I would be able to form an opinion.

I hate to point this out, but this is why the Asylum and the OOT were made. you have a choice. You can either take any reaming personally, and feel bad for yourself, or you can look at it as a way of entertainment for everyone, maybe you learn something, and continue on your way.

face it. you're not the best at anything. no one is. In life, just as here, you will face people more competant in other areas than you. You can not win every argument. You're not as worldly as you like to think you are. But you can get more worldly by seeing others point out facts you may not know, and you can have fun while doing so. it's a choice you have to make. I personally feel, might as well have fun, ribbing, and entertainment while I learn something new. Sure as hell beats school, dontcha think?

Smiley: lol I really shouldn't have been having this convo with you because you don't know me well enough to see the sarcasm in anything I was saying. I'll argue until I'm blue in the face about something I think I'm right on. Even once proven wrong, I may continue for a bit, but at that point, its to egg the other person on for ***** and giggles.

A good portion of Asylum threads seem to have political themes, and that is one place where I'm woefully under-opinionated and grossly uninformed.
it's never stopped Gbaji.

My take on this subject is that the sandbox has been slowly turning into the Assylum for about 6-12 months now, Kao has commented a couple of times that it's like watching a playback of 4 years ago, the same problems manefesting in the same ways with the same results.

I vote move the threads on one condition, hellboi stays in the sandbox.

And when you have no new blood come in here becase new people are too nervous to tread in here and actually see what the posts are like, you are stuck with people who have gone over the same topics with the same opinions for years. Why bother posting something when you already know what joph, Flea, Sam, Gbaji, tare, Nexa, Smash, and all the others are going to say before its even posted? That's why it's dead. We've been there, done that. Politics? Old. Religion? Can't be ressurrected.

With the asylum as inclusive as it is, its hard to bring new or interesting ideas to they table that have not been considered or covered; espically when said table has been there for 8+ years, and with many of the same people. The various topics politics, abortion, law & order have been covered infinity times.

In many of these subjects , I have gone over them with rl life friends and expressed my opinions. I think many visitors find the back in forth discussion of these topics very engaging, but have little to add to said discussions. Therefore, you get a lower number of quality , informed posts, instead of a larger number of 'conjecture-al' posts. I think its better that way.

I'm against moving threads en masse to the Asylum, as it would end up just "dumbing down" the Asylum. However, I'd more than welcome OOTers posting in the Asylum, as if they don't have thick enough skin, they'll be weeded out.

Survival of the fittest & all that.
