Even with all that crap, still works out better for me to take the standard deduction, haha. I was in school all last year, so I didn't pay any student loan interest...otherwise it may have worked out better to itemize.

I'm all set with paying someone to do something that takes me about 45 minutes, but maybe your situation is more complex than mine! I don't own my own business or anything.

I pay someone because he does a better job and the amount he saves me more than off-sets the nominal cost.

Yes, well, we've been through this with you...you have a friend or something who doesn't charge you much, right?

My parents religiously used H&R Block to file when they only needed to do a 1040EZ and they'd pay the $75 or whatever to get the tax return two weeks earlier. Drove me batsh*t crazy.

Waiting for my 1099 from my brother and then I'll be off to H&R. I don't pay to get the tax return early, but I do like that they will pay for any mistakes if you get audited.

They'll pay for the mistakes if you do it online for free as well. They guarantee their software Smiley: wink

I think I posted in another thread about my woes with software tax returns. I know they're supposed be so easy an idiot could do it, but apparently this idiot can't and so I just visit our person every year. She's nice and we're only usually there for 30 minutes.

Not everyone can be as insufferably cheap as me.

Hubby and I will be using H&R Block again. Between the move, job change, Navy retirement, buying the house and all that, this is the first year that we will be itemizing our deductions.

Our income more than doubled too so I'm really hoping that we don't owe anything. We're so used to our $5000 tax refund each year.

My wife and I are both EZ tax filers; the only special consideration we have to make this year is that we're now married and going to file jointly. I think. She'll be doing it at any rate.

I agree with you, but...

a) He is my father-in-law, so it is free.
b) The bleeds every month, reason for me having no fun or hair® and I multiple incomes from multiple states, out-of-state incomes only coming in her name from various trusts, etc.

It is easier to have him do it (by hand, since his tax software crashes every time he gets to us).
