It took this long? Welcome to the bottom 3%.

By the way, SOE is just hosting the game on their servers. It was fucked in development long before SOE was involved.

i play them all.

the first 20 levels or so in most games are the best gaming they have to offer. vanguard was worth the purchas price. so was this game. saw some really cool things, had alot of fun, and even learned a few things about life in the carribean. alot of factual information in the quests.

still having fun too, but i can see where a whole lot of people are going to get fustraited and walk. especially younger players, there s a bit of thinking involved in this game even to do some of the quests. its definatly for an older market.

well worth the purchase price. and its not that i hate grouping, what i hate is the time committment involved with grouping, and the playtime wasted getting one together, and figuring out what your going to do. not even mentioning wasting a bunch of time doing a quest you might not even have.

i like grouping, just not interested in the time committment that goes with it.

no game to date has found a way to make grouping time friendly either. many have tried, but none have done it yet. and untill they do, most mainstream players are not going to do it. they are not going to stay and do something close to nothing either just because its a great game, they are going to walk away.

thats why WoW has 11 million subscribers, and SOE is backing yet another soon to be gone game.

EQ2 has actually been making a comback recently. Not huge, but growth is growth.

To be fair, they did that by adding a heck of a lot of solo content. Lots of decent quests, good rewards and next week finally epics, it took a long time but they do seem to have EQII at a very high quality now.

If they only got it vista and directx10 compatible. I hope they do that soon, not all that many people are going to buy new computers and still keep XP on it. I think anyway.

I'm running it just fine on vista. It does need more DX10 effects though. All it took was me yelling at them about the UAC bug in their forum and it magically got fixed!

Still can't get in myself, support has passed my case on to second tier support. No idea what that means but as they asked to keep them updated with any changes from my side, it's not looking that good Smiley: grin

I have no idea why I can't get in the game anymore, I hope it changes soon!

Might go to the forums, who knows?

1. Disable UAC.
2. Give c:/Program Files/Sony/Everquest II folder an "Everyone" entry in the security tab under properties, and give that everyone entry full controll. Aply to all subfolders.
3. update your graphics and sound card drivers

Let me know if that doesn't do the trick and i'll have you send me the log.

I'll do that thanks! (what's UAC though?)

User Account Controlls. Aka the annoying "Are you sure you want to really delete this file. Are you sure you are sure? I don't think you are really sure so i'm not going to let you" funness for vista users.

Ok, I disabled the UAC, created the "everyone" in the security tab and basically gave all that were mentioned in that tab full access. All drivers are as updated as they can get. Same "appcrash" error for the moment unfortunately.

What log exactly would you need?

Oh yeah, forgot about that step. johnnny the Silent is correct. Do that to the shortcut, eq2.exe and everquest2.exe. make sure you use windows xp SP2 compatability mode. If that doesn't work, send me your eq2_crash.log file

Done the steps, I already had the exe files as windows xp sp2 compatible, did forget that everquest2.exe, only did the shortcut and the eq2.exe. No difference though, I've send you the log file.

And thanks for the help!

like someone mentioned above, EQ2 is doing better mainly because the last 2 releases have been real heavy on solo content. and every time they dip farther toward solo play and farther away from massive time commitment play, they get just a little better.

they are still missing one serious element that will stop them from getting really big. the actual fighting. takes way too long. not to mention its a button smashing spam fest that gets old in a hurry. to the point of being tedious.

thats the biggie. the other most annoying factor is that like EQ1, the mobs are way over powered compared to the players the higher in level you get. the graphics are great. almost as good as Vanguard. but the game play is still more tedious than fun.

WoW hit the mainstream market right on the head. short battles, even shorter recovery time, and mobs that let you feel powerfull instead of woefully inadiquit unless you have the most uber gear.

Pirates would do alot better if it wasnt so one dimensional like D&D online. the entire game would have been an awsome addition to WoW or EQ2 but as a stand alone game, once you hit 50, your done unless you want to do the exact same quests all over again.

but till now, its been alot of fun. they do a great job of giving you differant stratagies to fight with depending on your ship type and style. level 17 and still having a blast. the trade skills are very EQ2 ish in they are very complex and time consuming. that didnt fly well in EQ2 and i dont think its going very far here either, but then im not a trade skill type person, so who knows.

the graphics are good, the action is fun, and its been well worth the purchase price. especially since AoC doesnt launch till may sometime.

My EQ2 account is still paid for, I just never get a chance to log in.

Pushed into Hyjal/BT in World of Warcraft and its been eating up way too much of my time.

As it stands I really should lay off both and just pick up an xbox 360

Shadow, this is the only MMO you'll ever need.

I'd start on "easy" if I were you.

Pfft, if I see "woud", I assume they mean "wood", not "would". Way too many possibilities.

I could be missing something ofcourse.
