Knerr died Monday at Methodist Hospital in Arcadia after suffering a stroke earlier in the day at his Arcadia home, said his wife, Dorothy.
I wouldn't have guessed the inventor of the Hula Hoop was alive last week but I figured he deserves some recognition.

Personally, I've always straight sucked at Hula-Hooping. Shicka-shicka-drop... that's me.

I can still hula-hoop. Though not like I once could.

I've always thought the Frisbee more iconic....Frisbee Golf, Ultimate Frisbee, Frisbee dog tricks, etc.

Failed design concepts. You really didn't want to miss catching that Frisbee as it came towards your face.

I used to be able to do a passable job at it. The last time I was in Hooters and tried I failed miserably. Of course the several pitchers of beer we went through may have had something to do with it.

It was fun watching our waitress hula hoop and poor beers at the same time though.

It's actually a good core workout. There's some new fad exercise program centered around it. My bosses' husband showed me at her Xmas party. Yeah...
