Car CD Player likes MP3 CDs.

If I copy MP3s into a new folder, and group album tracks in sub-folders, the player recognises easch album, so I can flip between albums instead of having to scan each track.

iTunes will make an MP3 CD, but places all the tracks in 1 folder so to the car player they all appear to be in 1 album.

Anyone got a faster way than creating a new set of nested folder on the HDD?

I already have an 80Gb iPod with radio adapter that I use for long journeys, but it's a PITA setting it up for short-hop car journeys.

if you want the easy way out, just buy one of those FM modulators that plug into your cigarette lighter and let you play your ipod through your car radio on a preset station.
I already have one!

As it's a convertible I lock away the FM adapter when the car's unattended. The CD plays a good few hundred tracks and is handy for 10-20 minute journeys to avoid pissing about unlocking the glove box, connecting the. . . you get the picture.

Thanks for trying, but I was asking about someone who may have a short-hand version of building an MP3 CD

I'm a little confused. What is the end result you're looking for, all of your music organized into a file structure or CD Image sized files organized into a file structure. I'm not sure the first one does you much good, and I'm not sure how you'd go about doing the second.

I have 2 buttons on the controller in the car - Next Album & Next Track.

If I (or iTunes) places all the tracks in 1 folder, they all appear to be from 1 album.

If I create a folder with a separate sub-folder for each track, each album is recognised and I can flip between albums quickly.

I know - a bit clunky on the design of the CD Player; it's the standard one fitted in a number of German built cars for the European Market (same in friends' Porsches, Audis and Opels). I believe it's a Blaupunkt but it's unbranded when factory installed in those Marques.

Not the end of the world, but would save 20 minutes when creating CDs if someone knows a shortcut

Hmm. Seems like someone would have had to written something. I'll have a look, and depending on when Nexa calls, maybe code you something.

I'm that bored.

When I make CD's for my car, I just copy the directories right out of my ITunes music folder. I have ITunes keeping everything organized for me, and it really doesn't matter what the folder names are since the radio in my car reads the information off from the ID3 tag, not the folder name.

While it's not as easy as just burning straight from iTunes, it's not that difficult just right click on the folder and selecting "Send To -> CD Drive". When I have everything I want, I just go through the Windows CD burning wizard and I have my disc, folders and all.
