Without going into some kind of complex engineering analysis (which can be suspect anyway), my first glance would be to assume that the biggest advantage of the blades is that he's lifting less weight on each step, and has less total mass to push.

Legs are heavy. Just sayin'
Or you could, you know, just read the article, and find out that thats exactly what they disqualified him for.

Just when I think he's tested the boundaries of tedium, gbaji, once again, bends the needle on my who-gives-a-fUck-ometer.

The funny part is, that in his mind, no one else on this thread had realized that composite prosthetic legs might weigh less than muscle.

No. The funny part is that not a single person mentioned this rather obvious fact. Instead, they kept talking about how much energy the blades stored compared to regular legs, or how much oxygen he consumes, etc...

I'd love to assume you guys actually "get" the really obvious stuff, but your track record isn't exactly wonderful on that score...

Why do you think that is?

Because most people have grown to believe that a complex explanation for something is always better then a simple one.

Or did you not want the pop-psychology explanation?

No, dummy, because we all assumed the others already knew and that it was stupid to point out the obvious, kind of like what I'm having to do now because I'm sick of reading the text equivalent of Smash ejaculating all over your face and you licking your lips none the wiser.

Really.

But he's lifting it all with his thigh muscles. Prosthetics have no muscles, so really he's lifting extra weight. Smiley: tongue
