The War in Iraq:10 (18.5%)
Both in equal measures:13 (24.1%)
A silly 'Asylum inside joke' option:10 (18.5%)

I think the drastically falling housing economy and the apparent recession will be the biggest factor.

People dying in Iraq, while important, isn't felt quite as hard as less green in the wallet, or watching your $300,000 house fall to $200,000 while still making payments on $300,000.

I would think the economy would win out over the war, if only because when your soldier comes home, if he does, it's one more mouth to feed.

While the inside joke option would undoubtedly be the undoing of some of the more, shall we say, tightly wound candidates (and by tightly wound I mean emasculating neuvo-Yankees fan) (and by emasculating neuvo-Yankees fan I mean frigid nut-cutting ice *****.) (and by frigid nut-cutting ice ***** I mean Hillary the Hellbeast), I suspect the slumping economy brought on by the housing market may be the focal point of the campaign from this point forward.

It's the economy all the way. All those people who bought their houses on a 5-year fixed rate are suddenly noticing this ARM they've been hearing so much about has raised their mortgage payments by 500-1000 bucks a month.

On that note, I was excited to hear about Bush's plan to freeze interest rates until I learned it only applies if you live in the house.

I'd have to say the economy as well, though the democrat that wins the election will have a sorry war mess to clean up too. Smiley: smile

I said both. The economy is the immediate concern but will probably self-correct within a couple of years (unless we're sliding into a huge recession). Second: the war is draining the economy so it's not like they're completely separate issues.

Right now, I'm saying economy. When you have Republicans admitting that Bush's wonder-economy isn't soaring along as advertised, you know that people are expecting answers besides "No, everything is great!"

Yeah, Eight years of a GOP run government leads to a crippled economy. What a fucking shock.

If we'd only be more patient and wait twenty or thirty more years for the tax cuts to pay off, we'd be living in a paradise full of chaste huge breasted women and flying cars.

Now the Democrats will ruin it all by expanding the standard of living again. Curses.

How could it not be? 911 is his fault, and clearly that was the whole problem. Not predatory lending, or massive overspending coupled with tax cuts leading to crippling debt. Nope.

Don't forget the massive national deficit that will be Obama's fault, should he become President.
