It does taste different. The cane sugar formula has a different quality of sweetness to it. Have you not been able to tell the difference between sugar or corn syrup sweetened food and stuff with nutri-sweet or saccharine? It's clearly different. The difference between cane sugar and corn syrup is not as distinct, but it's noticeable.
My estimation of what makes a good Coke is whether or not is has a lot of burn to it. It should sting your mouth a bit. Too syrupy or sweet and it's no good--this is why fountain Coke is usually better than bottled or canned Coke. So if the cane sugar Coke tends to be less sweet than the corn syrup version, that's definitely a plus. (Aside from the fact that there's all sorts of other issues about corn syrup that we won't get into, especially since it's pretty much unavoidable in packaged food these days, if you really wanted to get crunchy about it.)

Of course they also sell it in the old style glass bottles, and most people agree that the container you drink from can affect the way it tastes to you. Aluminum can vs glass bottle taste a bit different from each other, and from a plastic tumbler different still.

This is true also. Since I'm not willing to pay the outrageous prices they charge for the little miniature novelty bottles of Coke you sometimes find, I haven't had Coke in a glass bottle since I was a kid.
Ends up, I get to try this stuff tonight. One of Mr. Ambrya's co-workers, knowing we're Coke connoisseurs around here, brought a bottle in for him to bring home. It's chilling in the fridge as we speak.
