Yeah, it's not like winning Iowa and NH means you're likely to win the nomination.

Everyone except Bill Clinton, who lost to Paul Tsongas in 1992, that is. Oh, and George W Bush, who lost to John McCain in 2000.
So in terms of the eventual winner of the Presidency winning their primary, that puts us at 0-2 out of the last two times the winner wasn't a sitting president running for a second term.
In fact, the last time that we elected a non second-term president who also won his party's primary in New Hampshire was Ronald Reagan back in 1980.
But hey! 28 years ago it worked like a charm!
