I can think of a coupla people in this thread who I would hate to go and see a movie with...... just sayin'.

Elinda....wanna grab a box o' popcorn and go and see Beuwulf? I hear its very 'realistic'.

And while zombie movies are being mentioned...Has anyone seen the sequel to 28 Days Later ?

I thought that was a really good filum, and am hoping it has a worthy follow-up. Especially as Robert Carlyle is in it...

Sucked.

Actually it was just mediocre teetering on the edge of sucking, which may be worse.

Your mother's a *****. You like to jack off dogs. That's right, you heard me. You like to grab that dog by the bone and rub it like a ski pole. Your dad? Gay. Your priest? Straight. **** off and let me post. It's not true, it's all in good fun. Now go away.

Sure, I'm pretty easy to please at the theatre. I love visuals. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and even House of Flying Daggers (the pebble game was SO cool), A Very Long Engagement, of course the LoTR movies, March of the Penguins (it was sad but good). I dont' know of another movie that the male body has impressed me so much as 300 (yes, I know they weren't real bodies)

I watched every segment of Planet Earth over the Thanksgiving holiday as my daughter brought the collection home with her. They were AwwwwwSome

28 Weeks later was ok until just after the Dad ate the Mom.

Then it was nothing but a glorified Marines Commercial, /sigh.

I <3 Nargy and his lovely girlfriend. Even if she is just a skull.

Oh, and I saw Atonement over the Weekend. Pretty good movie. If you liked the extended non-cut action sequences in Children of Men, you'll like Atonement.

As I was dragged there on a date, that particular scene made all the romancy stuff you have to sit through prior to WWI worth it.

I thought Children of Men was fairly decent. The limited action sequences in it were superbly done.

Well seriously, how much of their CG manly goodness would they be able to show behind them giant shields.
That's fine but it's silly to give a speech about how important their phalanx is and then never use it. Just ditch the speech and then expose your abs all you want.

I get it though... you were hot and bothered by CG abs Smiley: grin In the beginning, between the Oracle and Queenie McQueengirl, Flea was asking "Are all these nipples needed?" I told her it gave the guys something to remember while we were watching half-naked Greek men for the next hour and a half.

I just wanted more slow-mo on the men. The hardbodies were nice, but I mostly remember Leonidas' teeth, and that's saying something. I foudn the sub-plot with his wife more gripping. Tell a comic story, but tell it with some feeling. This just seemed like they could have made the same movie without hiring live actors.

I just saw Shoot Em Up over the weekend. To say that the plot was a gaping chasm of emptiness would be an understatement, but the stunts and gun fights, which incidentally take up roughly 90% of the movie, are so over the top that you can't help but look at your TV in disbelief and say to yourself "Did he just do that? ******' sweet!"

Of course, after watching the movie for about 20 minutes, the entire thing becomes so predictable, it's nauseating. 5 minute story element, 10 minute gun fight, 5 minute story element, 10 minute gun fight, 5 minute gratuitous sex scene, 10 minute gun fight. Repeat ad boredom.

Still, afterwards I found myself liking the movie. Why? It delivers exactly what you expect. Gunfights. Lots of them. They're all so over the top, the entire movie takes on a tongue-in-cheek perspective, but you can't help but watch the whole thing.

Except that Atonement had no real action sequences in it at all. The 10-minute-long continuous camera shot of the British troops on the beach with the ferris wheel was cool, but I was hoping to see some actual fighting in a movie that was billed as a WWII epic in the previews.

Overall I thought it was a pretty good movie, just not 7-golden-globe-nominations-and-85-on-Metacritic good. And Gbaji will be pleased to know that the rapist in the movie did in fact leave marks.

Edit: My fiance and I watched King of Kong again on my laptop last night. It was awesome. See it when it comes out on DVD in a couple weeks.
