I'm so bored! Follow

#1 Dec 31 2007 at 9:22 AM Rating: Default
My semester doesn't start back until mid February thanks to block scheduling, MrKatie still has about a month until he comes home, house is spotless, I'm up to running 2 miles on the treadmill, dogs have been walked, but I'm still so bored. Gaming which is my usual outlet isn't really helping, 20 minutes into the game and I'm shutting it off because I am zoning out IRL. Hanging out with family and friends just reminds me how much I can't wait for us to move out of this town to a place with more stuff to do. I've taken to sitting in the local library reading for a few hours at a time or just walking around the different shopping malls here to kill time. I need a hobby.

What is your answer to boredom? How do you alleviate the hum drum dullness of life?

Knitting? Baking? Firearms?

Pick up a project around the house like paint a room or redecorate.

I can't remember the last time I was bored, honestly.

What you describe sounds more like anxiety - like you can't settle down to anything and end up doing nothing.

Well, yeah. I'd be bored too if I saw only 4 new posts after 3 hours.

<sigh>

How about we make it a game.. who can go the longest without buying tobacco?
Helps if you never picked up the filthy habit!

I am working on two photo albums, one painting, and two sewing projects. I rotate them depending on what I feel like making. I find needlepoint very calming, and six of the ornaments on my new tree were handmade. I also handmade my niece and nephew's Christmas stockings, and one in the works for Jr. It's hard when you miss someone and you want something that isn't quite yet achievable, but try doing small things that work towards or remind you of that thing.

I took up knitting and now find myself sitting for hours away from my computer. Developing hobbies always give me something to do. If my old hobbies bore me, I just learn to do something new or go back to a project I left unfinished years ago.

Of course I'm trying to keep my mind off the fact that Jonwin went back to the ER, since his foot swell up and was tingling. Worrying tends to make doing anything relaxing impossible. I end up checking web sites I hadn't visited in months and then reading posts for hours, as I try to catch up. It seems to make the waiting for hours, easier.

I made sure Jonwin took the cell phone my daughter gave him for when I need to be able to reach him. He wouldn't get one, since he can't carry it at work and several workers have had theirs stolen from lockers. He barely knows how to use it, as he isn't into electronics like us younger folk. I hope to get a call from him in 4 hours.

Blah, well that bites. How did he break his leg again? I heard something about kinky sex on a rickety boat balcony?
