I believe we can defer this question until BT is back to explain it to us.

It's Lamb sheared and dyed to look like Beaver for those women in the 50s who wanted fur but didn't want to spend the money.

Fixed! The ad was from 1929.

Still, that's interesting. Even more so since it implies that it was easier to get real wombat than it was real beaver. Of course, it probably was given the history of beaver over-trapping.

This thread reminds me of my granny, who has been saving a fur coat in her closet for me for decades. She reminds me, when I see her during our yearly visit, that she has it for me and I can take it whenever I want. I haven't the heart to spray red paint in her face and kick her in the groin. Smiley: frown

Just wear your FUR IS MURDER t-shirt next time you stop by for teacakes.

Could that be abbreviated to FURDER?

Joph's mom has a floor-length mink coat that his sister politely informed me would come to her one day. I realize she was joking NOW, but we had only recently met, so I politely explained to her that I could never wear fur, and it led to a very awkward WTF-like conversation with her and my MIL's boyfriend.

Stupid coat. It'll probably end up eaten by her cat.
