The Spears family has done its best to integrate themselves into our lives for the past decade. Jamie Lynn rode on her sister's success to become an actress for however many pre-teen children. Of course it's "news" (in a celebrity sense) if she gets knocked up and no one cares if the same happens to Mary Mae Benton from Toadfuck, Arkansas. You hire people to make you a part of America's life and America's naturally going to be interested when this stuff goes down.

Do you wonder, for even a second, how the media found out about this. I don't believe she's showing yet?
I guess it tells right in the article. She told 'Celebrity' magizine....and somehow you think the media attention she's garning is mortifying. Smiley: lol

I hope Nickleodean fires her ***.

WTF?

She's 16, knocked up, and plans on keeping the kid. That's about as selfish as it gets eh.

If she had one ounce of concern for this kid, she's give it up for adoption to an 'anonymous' set of mature loving parents.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

she is 16, and doesnt plan on DUMPING her inconvienance on some one elses door step. there are many many worse choices she could make, and she didnt. and who is to say the home she lives in now doesnt have mature loving people around that can provide a nuturing enviroment for a child to grow up in.

teens get preggo in all walks of life. from the wealthiest to the poorist, from people who would be great parents to crack heads who should be forced into sterility. some abort them, some dump them into state care, some dump them on relatives, some just flat out abandon them, and some adopt them out.

outside of the decision not to use protection, the decision she made is the most mature, and most responsible. hopefully she sees it as the gift that it is, and not some burdon that will interfere with her partying.

things happen. the things that happen are not what is important, but is yet what most people focus on, what is important is how we deal with the things that happen. she made a fine choice. the best choice to be made in her situation.

i hope she learns to become a good mother. and before you start harping on the "learns to be...." part of being a mother, NO ONE is born a good parent, they all become good or bad parents AFTER they have a child.

it is refreshing to see someone stand up and take responsibility for their actions irreguardless of the mistake that led them there. she is alot more mature than most of you here.

Oh yes, great home. JL's parents are split, older sister is America's cheapest *****, the G-ma to be let the 2 live together and sleep together. The g-pa is an alcoholic. What a great environment for both the mother who still has a tremendous amount of growing up to do, what a great start for a brand new life. Money does not buy class folks.

Re: divorce rates. Bad statistics that got popularized, not unlike bad science that gets popularize.

Quote:
Divorce Rate: It's Not as High as You Think
By DAN HURLEY
The New York Times
April 19, 2005

How many American marriages end in divorce? One in two, if you believe the
statistic endlessly repeated in news media reports, academic papers and
campaign speeches.

The figure is based on a simple - and flawed - calculation: the annual
marriage rate per 1,000 people compared with the annual divorce rate. In
2003, for example, the most recent year for which data is available, there
were 7.5 marriages per 1,000 people and 3.8 divorces, according to the
National Center for Health Statistics.

But researchers say that this is misleading because the people who are
divorcing in any given year are not the same as those who are marrying, and
that the statistic is virtually useless in understanding divorce rates. In
fact, they say, studies find that the divorce rate in the United States has
never reached one in every two marriages, and new research suggests that,
with rates now declining, it probably never will.

The method preferred by social scientists in determining the divorce rate is
to calculate how many people who have ever married subsequently divorced.
Counted that way, the rate has never exceeded about 41 percent, researchers
say. Although sharply rising rates in the 1970's led some to project that
the number would keep increasing, the rate has instead begun to inch
downward

Damned serial divorcers, makin' us all look bad.

yep, your right.

and i assume you think the MAJORITY of the rest of the population in this country is just like "leave it to beaver" when it comes to familey life. whats the divorce rate now? 60 percent and constantly growing? but your right, lets find one of the other parents in the 80 percent of the working class stiffs in this country who are trying to make it on 40k a year, MOST of whome are already single parents whose kids dont even bother coming home till right before mom does.

the moral majority in this country that could point a finger at her is....kind of like power gamers in online games. very very very small.

stuff happens. so far, she is dealing with it in a most responsible way.

and i have yet to hear any of you criticize her boyfriend one bit. remember him? the OTHER lover who didnt bother to use protection either? the guy who went home WITHOUT a baby in his belly and a career on the rocks? but lets steak her out to be damned in our flawless world shall we? the little *****. who is she to actually live up to some ones fantasies and dare to find truble for it? now, back to channel 7 and the new big boobed weather girl of the month.......

I'm not saying that anyone elses family life is better than theirs. What I am saying is that in this kind of environment, rich and famous, does not mean you are going to have the brains to prevent something like this happening. Where in the above did I not blame him? He's just as at fault. With family dynastic such as they have, it is no surprise that they ended up pregnant and yes, I believe that child would be better taken care of if it was given up to a mature and loving complete home. It's already been proven with her and her sisters actions that if they'd had a better family life and home this would probably not have happened.

He's just as at fault.

Sorry, no. He's not. He's not even in the same ballpark in terms of being at fault here. She's going to lose literally millions. He's going to go from flipping burgers to making sex tapes with Paris Hilton. It wasn't his job to make sure he didn't impregnate the poor little rich girl. Now he's certainly just as *responsible* but at fault? Not hardly.

Bull ****. If you get a girl pregnant it's just as much your fault as it is hers. I don't care the situation. It takes 2 to make a baby.

Really, Elsie Mae? What if the guy's in a coma? He's equally at fault then, too right? Or if he's mentally retarded with an IQ of 20. Equally at fault, right? Sorry, let's leave your baby daddies out of this, that was unfair.

Yeah, I think you missed his point.

Career opportunity doesn't equate with fault. Responsibility, yes; but that kid is sittin' pretty right now.

Er, that kid being the father, not the fetus.

How does any of that affect who is at fault for the pregnancy? I see his point of this guy just became a star over night, but beyond that how does that affect who is at fault? In general, it is both of their faults for letting this happen.

No, in general we pretend things like that are true when in reality they rarely are. Because it's easier and people like easy. Ohhhhh boy do they like easy.

Life's complex though, it's not easy, regardless of how many millions of books are sold written by idiots explaining to other idiots how simple everything really is.

Ms. Spears is more at fault for becoming pregnant here, because she has vastly more power socially and economically and correspondingly more at stake. The guy, who's name absolutely none of us knew before he impregnated a person on television probably wasn't diabolically planning to knock her up to secure his future well being, but he should have been. Saying they're equally at fault is like saying someone who leaves a paper bag full of $100 bills on a sidewalk is equally at fault with the person who picks it up regarding it's loss.
