labeling the degree as "Science Education" is the issue:

I'd be pleasantly surprised if you were required to have a degree in Science Education to teach High School biology. I'd be cynically, um, whatever the appropriate adjective is for shrugging and saying "right, naturally." is, if you're simply required to have a masters in ed and a bachelors in basket weaving to teach anything from German to Physics.

Your mother's a *****. You like to jack off dogs. That's right, you heard me. You like to grab that dog by the bone and rub it like a ski pole. Your dad? Gay. Your priest? Straight. **** off and let me post. It's not true, it's all in good fun. Now go away.

I was handing out Graduation Certificates at a University Ceremony today. So many proud and studious leaders of the future.

I did, however, make a point of winking knowingly at all the graduates in philosophy, theology and humanities.

At the drinkies session afterwards, I made a point of telling those particular graduates some important life-lessons:

Pattie, then ketchhup, then pickle and lettuce.

It's a self sustaining economy. Someone has to get paid to try and find the Philosophy graduates jobs.

Would you like fries with that, or do you just believe you would like fries with that?

science, all science, is just a small leap away from theology. it is an idea thathas supporting arguments. not a whole lot differant than religion, if you accept the Bible as a supporting argument.

Sorry there's a huge difference between this and believing some omnipotent man in the clouds is watching everything we do, loves us, but will sentence us to a fiery inferno if we break any of his rules he sent down magically to a guy sitting on a mountain.

The day someone runs a successful line of "One hour philosophy" stores, you can legitimately equate the two...

Anyone who believes the Universe to be younger than 1 billion years is simply in need of a psychiatrist, mankind and their stupid superiority complex. We are not the Center of the Universe, we are simply here because of random chance. Btw, if the Universe was created "perfect" like 10,000 years ago, why in the heck is it deteriorating so fast? Also, the fasct of the Speed of Light pwns them.

I've read this entire thread and I must say, Smash is a genius, philosophy is a teachers subject (and that's nothing new), and evolution is not only a theory, it's something that has tons of empirical evidence backing its validity.

Although, I must admit I'm partial to philosophy. It is such a wonderfully complex subject, but it really exists in the area between science and religion and thus it is the easiest place to be right and wrong at the same time...depending on ones perspective.

And, psychology is a close cousin to philosophy. That's a fact. I often wonder how many psychologist wax poetic about their ideologies within their peer reviewed reality.
