One week from now a lot of us will have our fantasies and wishes rippes to shreds as we open presents of tea kettles instead of diamonds, neck ties instead of keys to our new Lexus'. So whatcha doing for the holidays?

I've got < 3 more days before my mom flies in for 2 weeks of holiday cheer, and headaches listening to how alone she is now, all by herself in New England Smiley: wink My brother, who is stationed in Jacksonville, NC, will be schlepping up here for a couple nights. It's been several years since my side of the family has gathered for the holidays so it should be interesting to say the least.

After the actual Christmas holiday we'll be spending the next 10 days on a whirlwind tour of daily activities in the area.

My wife has to work over the holiday, so I'll be lugging Baby Frak around to see all of the family. Everyone lives within 15 miles of me, so at least they aren't far away.

Other than that, I have a ton work lined up for Janurary, so I'm working extra in Dec so I don't end up double booked, so for me, it's really just more of the same.

We are having dinner at our place, just a couple friends and their new baby. Should be very low key and I plan on having a buzz all day.

Go, me!

-This Saturday I will drive to my sister's house for Christmas with my FOO, then head back Saturday evening.
-Sunday will consist of cleaning, organizing, last minute wrapping, and possibly assembling Hannah's new toddler bed (bleh, this is a nightmare in the making). -Monday afternoon the ex-husband will come over and we'll have a Christmas eve dinner, each open a present, play candyland with Hannah, and *hopefully* get an earlyish night since I plan on being exhausted.
-Christmas morning we'll do the breakfast thing, the opening presents thing, and the playing with presents thing, then have Christmas dinner.
-Wednesday will be hitting the after Christmas sales to use aquired gift certificates.
-Thursday will be heading down to Rooville and camping out there for a few days. We'll be heading into Boston for First Night again this year.

Christmas Eve, we're going to have a family dinner between Flea, myself & Jophiel Jr and probably open a present each. Her family always did the big event on the Eve and just lounged Christmas day so this is our halfway point.

On Christmas proper, we'll do presents and then an early dinner/more presents at my mothers around 2pm or so.

On the 26th, we both work, having expended our vacation time when we did the honeymoon.

First Christmas back in San Diego so there are over 80+ family members that we will be visiting over the weekend. I have it all mapped out and calculated the time we will be spending at each house and the driving distance. We'll attend the Christmas Vigil Mass on Christmas Eve with said family members and have a huge family lunch and dinner at my cousin's house for Christmas proper. Christmas morning will be just hubby, the kids and me and we'll lounge around and have breakfast and open presents before the whirlwind of family.

Eating. Drinking. Maybe playing Pictionary with the family, as tradition dictates.

Oh, and going to the Bears vs. Packers game on the 23rd. Smiley: tongue

Christmas Eve I'll call my sister's house half-way across the country from me. My uncles, cousins, nieces nephews, sissies, brother-in-laws, nieces husbands, etc etc. will all be gathered there, opening gifts and eating tasty stuff.

During my phone call, I'll get shuffled from person to person, all the while hearing the laughter and celebration in the background.

I'll be bummed for a bit that I'm not there.

Saturday, driving to my parent's house where we'll spend the night and come back Sunday afternoon. Monday night, go to the hubby's grandmother's house, where his family will be eating, drinking and tearing open presents. Staying at our house Monday night, then there's a possibility that we'll be driving to see my MIL on Tuesday. But I'm hoping for a quiet Christmas Day at home. We'll see, I guess.

I have 5 days off, 3 with pay! followed by a bunch more days off.

Driving down to the hometown with my sister and her husband. Once I get down there it will be food, mixed with movie watching, mixed with hanging out with friends.

I will also be avoiding my older brother since I parked his lvl 70 Draenei warrior naked in Undercity, with no hearthstone, no mount and all his hotbars replaced with identical looking macros that screamed insults and only alerted more horde to his presence when he tried fighting his way out.

I have no plans for anything before Christmas day, then go nuts trying to be in 2 places at once.

My family normally starts gathering at my daughters around 2 in the afternoon to nibble on snacks and watch sports on TV. We expect dinner to be serve around 7pm, but often find that the cooks still are busy in the kitchen doing last minute gravy and deciding who going to cut the prime rib this year. I hope that I won't be called to help make the gravy again this year, but don't believe that any deity is listening to me. I will not be allow to avoid the kitchen, since I was asked to make the cream mushrooms and onions, flavored with Dry Sack, as I seem to be only one who learn how my mom make this family favorite dish. After all the phones calls I got with questions on how to prepare this one dish over Thanksgiving, I can hope that they will make it by themselves someday.

We are also expected to make it to Jonwin's brother's for meal at 4pm. We past on visiting last year, to cut down on the stress level that comes with the holiday. Since we were both sick on Thanksgiving this year and stay home, we should try to make an appearance for some turkey and other more traditional American holiday food. Jonwin's SIL and I will be the only ones to have any of the sauerkraut, which seems is a local tradition for Xmas, that I hadn't encountered until moving to Baltimore.

Normally I have sauerkraut on hot dogs, during the summer months. Though I found that when made as soul food by local "Cooks," very tasty. I just love me some southern cooking, as they say it around here.

Then we get ride back to my daughter's house hopefully before they sit down for dinner. The one year we were late, they ate nearly all of the prime rib and about to have desert. Christmas day doesn't seem right to me, without getting a slab of rare prime rib on my plate.

All this, just so I can get to see my grandkids open their gifts and get pictures of them in their new hats and mittens.

Eve is a dry family event with the wife's big family. 1 present each, blah blah blah. No f'ucking booze. Kiss my hairy expanding ***.

Morning of doings with the immediates. Lucas will get too much. My wife will get too much. I will get way more than I asked for, since I abhor receiving gifts, and try every year to convince her not to get me anything.

Afternoon of big family dinner with my family at the Minnesota corporate headquarters (mom and dad's house). More presents, more food and BOOZE!!!! yay

EDIT: Oh, and I'll be off work from the 20th to the 2nd all payed. Go me! Brother is coming to town and he's bringing his 360 with him, so expect to drink much beer and play much video games.

Sunday I'll be at a friends for a bit of a Christmas party. Some food, some booze, maybe play some games and the like. For Christmas I usually end up at a buddy's, his mom does a pretty good spread.

No real plans for Christmas eve, maybe I'll hit the strip club.

Spending it alone with the dogs + 1 - I'm dogsitting my brother's family's recently adopted 5-month old pit bull puppy, Stanley,
while they go see my mom & step-dad in Los Angeles for Christmas. My dad & step-mom may come down from north of Philly to visit me.

I start my vacation next Monday and I'll be off until January 2. I'll be spending most of that time knocking out some house chores (still not all the way unpacked, but making progress), hit the gym, continue developing a new web comic, read some books like Terry Pratchett's latest novel, play some EQ2, play some X-Box 360, and watch some movies like The Simpsons movie and The Bourne Ultimatum.

I'll possibly go out to see the Sweeney Todd movie with one of my lady friends. I'll be seeing a couple of the other ladies I've met online, too - most likely just for lunch or coffee since it will be my first time meeting them.

I also have an invite to a neighborhood New Year's Eve party.

Stanley's eyes are outfitted with laser beams (they didn't have frikkin' sharks)! I'll take some better pics while I'm on vacation. He's really adorable.

About 5 or 6 - while casual dating is fun and just what I need right now, it's getting to be a bit of a juggling act. I don't really have the time for all of them. So I'm not renewing Match.com (pretty decent) and Yahoo Personnels (sucked) subscriptions. Plenty of Fish is free and actually has some nicer features like its forums and a decent chat system (even vocal chat).

Thank Bob some of them are traveling over the holidays - I'm going to enjoy some down time. Smiley: grin

Meh, I'll get the usual junk from my family that I'll end up regifting next year to someone else. I've already gotten my big xmas gift. Bought myself a wii. Now to get DDR for it. Other than that it's going to be a very depressing xmas with MrKatie off making sandcastles. Maybe I'll get a phone call. Other than that I'm being pretty much forced to go to the Mom's for xmas dinner and be subjected to the people I hate most in life (ie: the grandparent who molested me but my parents are still on great terms with) if I don't want to spend xmas alone. That or I'm going to hit up the liquor store the day before and just stay plastered at my own home all alone for xmas.
