That you guys like mud-kips.

And by mudkips, I mean delicious holiday food.

I am returning back to my southern home for a dozen days or so starting saturday.
I love to cook, and will probably have a small army hanging at my house upon my return home. I would like some of your favorite tasty recipes that are good for groups of people to make. (and feel free to include solo cooking dishes if they are amazingly tasty, mostly meat dishes, I have a HUGE weakness for sweet and spicy meats)

Many thanks in advance , and If my camera is working, I may film the results and I'll be sure tell you which one I liked best upon my return after the new year (separating the baked goods form the meats, obviously.)

After noticing the number of views of this thread, and the lack of responses; I think I can safely respond for us all when I say, "What?"

That's because it seems like it's going to be about gossip, but really it's about work. Smiley: frown

I think it's about holiday recipes, actually.

Well, if it weren't before it is now.

Holiday food. It's savory, yet sweet.

I require further elaboration on your apparently contradictory discriptors.

Hopefully you've atleast lubed the duck up a bit before adding the lemon. Or is that the game?

I've actually got a recipe to share. But its not a holiday one, unless you think chinese food is holiday-esque. Come to think of it, it is, isnt it? Since everywhere else is closed during Christmas? Ok then!

Asian Beef with Snow Peas

You'll need:
3 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons rice wine
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon cornstarch
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 tablespoon minced fresh ginger root
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1 pound beef round steak, cut into thin strips
8 ounces snow peas
Jasmine Rice

In a small bowl, combine the soy sauce, rice wine, brown sugar and cornstarch. Set aside.
Heat oil in a wok or skillet over medium high heat. Stir-fry ginger and garlic for 30 seconds. Add the steak and stir-fry for 2 minutes or until evenly browned. Add the snow peas and stir-fry for an additional 3 minutes. Add the soy sauce mixture, bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Lower heat and simmer until the sauce is thick and smooth. Serve immediately over Jasmine rice.

Takes about 30 minutes from putting out your ingredients until you put it on the table. I used sweet sake for the rice wine and it was divine.

I like holiday food, that doesn't mean I like to make it. That's for the women-folk, duh.
