Bought a computer worth the name.

see my usual idea is that since i will probably be at sea for most of my computers lifespan there was no real point paying or anything more than a low mid range PCworld piece of sh*t.

Since i am now leaving her majesties service i figured i would set up a decent system once i had moved. But at with all good plans, my current PC suffered the dreaded "blue screen of death" i think it's probably just the aging graphics card but since it was low mid range 3 years ago i saw no point in just replacing that.

so i took the plunge and purchased This... Now i am sure for $1200 you could easily pick up better stateside but this is plenty good enough for me and extremely cheap for the price in the UK.

Gaming has just got a whole lot better!!

Avast! Not a bad deal at all for UK prices.

I spent about the same on a self-build so specs are a bit higher, but not massively so.

Oh and if you tend to use a dual monitor set-up, don't bother with a 2nd graphics card. 2xGfx SLI craps back to single monitor only :-(

What OS?

Grats and I hate you.

My computer is almost dead, I've had no luck finding a decent replacement at a decent cost. I have priced out the parts and am a step away form just buying it and trying to put it together myself, however I have never built a rig from the ground up before so I am still a little bit hesitant.

If only there were more options in Canada for computer e-stores.

Why you and your la-di-dah emoticons!

Running Vista (Home Premium on the gaming rig and Ultimate on work laptops) here and wouldn't go back.

Take time to learn the differences from XP, turn off the **** security controls and enjoy.

Vista ultimate on both my rigs here, works fine so far. Had some quirks initially, but everything is stable these days.

Seems like a decent enough machine.

I've been thinking of getting a very similar computer to that one, which in Belgium would cost me about 1600 USD, without OS.

Looks like you'll be ready for a couple more years of gaming with that computer!

If I can ever get an extra $200 scratched together I'm upgrading my obsolete P4. I can get an Athlon X2, motherboard and 2gb RAM for $170 from Newegg.
