I cannot believe he called timeout

Far and away, the Pats should have lost that game. A couple stupid coaching calls later, and they win. Smiley: disappointed

Oh god yes, that was painful to watch. As soon as Ed Reed fumbled the INT, I figured the Pats were gonna win it. Ugh, on the other hand it'll make their eventual defeat that much sweeter (assuming it happens). McGahee also had a couple terrific runs that I can think of inbetween overwhelming bouts of sadness and despair.

I laughed my *** off. That was definitely a bad call. I don't know about any of the following madness being bad coaching though, that was simply a player meltdown. That dude who threw his helmet and then chucked the ref's flag into the stands should be fired. If they had overturned that TD (not that I think they should have) his actions would have put the Pats on the 2 yard line with a 1st and goal.

Better yet, the Ravens should have gone for the field goal rather than a first down. With their field position 3 points should have been a lock and it would have made it a two possession game, requiring New England to score a touchdown (which they did) and either a field goal to tie or another touchdown to win. I understand the desire to put a stake through their heart, but 3 points of insurance would have placed enormous pressure on the Pats.

At least the Steelers are up by 3 in the 4th right now.

I think even the Patriot haters have to agrea we won that one pretty handidly.

After they beat the Jets 70-0 next week & force Miami to forfeit, the Pats might have a chance to lose when they're away at the Jersey Giants.

It could be a nail biter, but I think even our 3rd string can pick off Eli.

Actually, the close calls NE has gotten from the past three teams should be reason for worry for you Patriot fans. NE looks like a team that is worn down and tired. Meanwhile, Indy is cruising to the playoffs and Green Bay is running on the high emotions that come with being where they never expected to be.

A NE superbowl win is not anywhere close to being a foregone conclusion. If Belichick insists on going for the 16-0 record and wears out his first string, they may likely be too tired to finish the job.

With the remaining schedule being what it is (Jets, Miami, Giants), I really cannot imagine Belichick running his 1st string down. He's been known to bring Brady out (and they haven't been running their offensive backfield down at all this season). Granted our 2nd & 3rd string QB's are nothing to cheer for...but again, they're there simply to maintain...not progress in the games.

Pat's had their mid-season slump with the Ravens and the Eagles, and last night was the Pat's vs. a far superior team than those. I don't necessarily like the Steelers, but I bit my nails for this one because they have a good team this year and Ben has come a long way.

Indy-schmindy. Already beat 'em, and then San Diego beat 'em the week after. Look at their schedule since SD...not-hard-teams. And they squeaked by KC and Jacksonville by 3 points in each game. And as the record has shown...Manning and crew have a tendency to buckle under Playoff games more times than not. Both teams have a cake-walk schedule remaining...and I would expect both to sideline their QB's by the 4th quarter (as seen this week with Peyton being replaced by Sorgi).

Pat's played good this week, against a good team, and pulled away a 34-13 win. It was apparent they shrugged off the shaky last two weeks and they're moving forward. Could they lose a game? Sure! Could they get rocked out of the Playoffs? Maybe...but I doubt it. If they do, they aren't going without a fight. But as for the season...they have a clear, easy shot at 16-0 going into the Playoffs. Jet's have no weapons, Miami is...well...a joke, and if Eli keeps going the way he is, we'll steamroll the Giants right into the Playoffs.

In all fairness, that was not a defeat. That was just a very weird game to begin with.

Weird...maybe. But weird doesn't excuse Manning from throwing 6 INTs and the Colts special teams to let a Punt and a Kickoff be returned for TD's. The rest of the stuff (bouncing INT, River's fumble in the end-zone) were a little whacky. But if anything, SD's special teams won that game...and there's nothing wrong with that. 6 INTs thrown by Peyton is a huge possession problem more than SD scoring off those INTs.

Still, stuff like that means the Chargers didn't deserve that win either.

very true.

any given sunday isnt just the name of a bad movie.

that being said, the farthest the pats have to travel for the remainder of the season is new york against the giants. that's what, an hour flight at best? there's no cross country trips and shortened weeks due to monday games.

the giants will probably be locked into that top wildcard spot, which means that the game against the pats will be meaningless for them. they will likely rest their starters at some point since they dont have a bye week.

so the pats will play 2 dismal teams at home, a team that will be resting its starters at some point and then will have a first round bye. looks like a good month of rest for the most part.

Hopefully, as has been true in years past, the Dolphins will pull off their yearly fluke win against the Pats. Yes, the Dolphins are my team, and yes they make me want to /wrist everytime I see them "play". But, if they can pull off the upset of upsets, this season was worth it.

Actually, these are exactly the circumstances when a lousy team will play beyond its ability and do something it hasn't done all season. Examples of this are Michigan vs Appalachian State and all those other upsets we saw this year. The favorites are ready to coast and the underdog is fighting for pride. So it wouldn't surprise me to see Miami win just because they want to be the ones who can say they did it for themselves and for the '72 Fish.

The Pats looked like the third best team in the NFL this last Sunday. Green Bay and Indy looked like they could kick their a$$ with their second string. It may very well be that New England peaked too early and has no juice left in the tank. C'mon, the New York Jets?!? This game proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that Belichick needed to steal their signals to solidly beat them the first time, because they sure had trouble doing it the second.

And how about all you folks who predicted a 100-0 final score? Miami had a better game than New England. Yeah. That speaks volumes.

My prognostication: The Patriots are out of the playoff in the 2nd round. Nothing but weak sauce there.

your anti-patriots bias is obvious and laughable.

if the ol' gunslinger keeps throwing those bad picks in the endzone, green bay wont go anywhere. st louis at 3-10 was only down 3 at the half and self destructed.

oh and indy had their hands full with the lowly raiders.

in this thread you mentioned the patriots should be worried because they barely beat crappy teams, yet the colts (who lost to the pats) and the packers who got shelled by the cowboys (who also lost to the pats) are better than a team that has gone 14-0.

makes sense....

what else do the pats have to do to prove the haters wrong? people say they cant defend, than they stop pitt in the red zone 3 or 4 times. they also held the jets to 3 points in 4 red zone chances. then they say they cant run, yet maroney breaks 100 yards and scores a td. what other ways to win do you want?

im not saying that the pats will ride their white horses into arizona uncontested and win by 8 td's, but man try to at least give some credit where it's due.

The Dolphins are going to ride their first winning "streak" of the season into NE and stomp a mudhole into the Pats. I am so freaking happy Jason Taylor finally started leading this team, like he should have from the beginning. He is their best player, and if the others can follow suit, we have a half decent defense.
