So how many of you poor saps fell prey to the madness that is "Black Friday" and the shopping weekend that follows Turkey day? Did you get any sweet deals? Was it worth it?

Myself, I can't bring myself to tolerate people enough to brave the crowds and craziness just to save a few bucks. I stayed as far away from the retail stores as I could this weekend. I'll keep my shopping to during the week after work, which seems to be at least bearable.

Wife had to work Black Friday, at 6am but we didn't do any shopping. Except for some groceries which doesn't count.

I refuse to go shopping on Black Friday. I hate going out to shop in general, why would I want to get up early and deal with insane people, long lines, and cheery Christmas music when I can sleep in, get coffee, and sip it leisurely, buying stuff online?

I went out, bought 2gb RAM (2 x 1gb sticks) for $30, a jewerly armoire thingy from Target for $35, a season of Sponge Bob for $12, and LOTRO for $10.

The video card I bought wasn't really a BF only deal, but that's when I bought it.

Smiley: nod

That's my usual deal. Last year was an exception for the most part, as I actually sent out my cards early and had most gifts bought a good week before the day. I'm trying to do the same this year, I hit a sports store last Tuesday and bought $130 in stuff for some of my friends, most everything was already on sale anyways. Now I just need to take care of some of the nieces and nephews and I should be set. Trouble is they are all spoiled as hell so I have no idea what to get them. I'm thinking socks, cause there is nothing quite like the feel of new socks on your feet.

Yeah, they'll hold me in complete disdain I'm sure.

You don't save when you buy stuff. You still lose money. Smiley: oyvey

Advice.

When she's into her 10th minute admiring the shiny things in a gurly accessory or clothes shop, point out some gaudy garment, and loudly ask "Would that go with my Scrotal Piercing?"

Never failed yet :-)

Well, considering that the items would still have to be bought for x-mas giving goodness, instead of hemoraging money it is a slow bleed.

I LoL'd IRL...

I could totally see myself doing that then spending the rest of the day as her bag bitch as she extended the outing exponentially.
