I've heard the game didn't trun out nearly as well as anyone was hoping for. Get back to us and let us know how it turned out. Thanks!

One thing for sure, it is a crazy good-looking game.

I downloaded the trial yesterday. The Alla guild is on Meneldor.

I picked up this 512mb 8600GT for $129, plus 2 gb more ram for $35, so I figured a $10 game might not be a bad way to test it.

I'm sure the flavor of the month is EQ2 right now, but oh well.

I bought the lifetime subscription (= to about a 2 year subscription...if I remember correctly...) but I haven't been on in a while as I'm still having fun with EQ2. I will pop on as I haven't done any patch updating for some time.

I still have a week or so left on my subscription. If anyone wants, I can send you a guest trial subscription which doesn't have the same restrictions as the public free trial. Also, if you decide to join, you can join under Founder's pricing ($9.99/mth or $199 lifetime).

I picked up the special edition box set in the bargain bin a couple months back, didn't even finish the free month. Great looking game, nice atmosphere, just lacked that certain oomph.

Got all the patches up-to-date and logged in for a minute - looks like due to my inactivity I was given the heave ho from There is No Fifth Star fellowship but that's totally understandable since I haven't played in ages.

I agree with Bhodi and Nad - just never really grabbed me - the orcs were probably the best "orc" race I've ever seen and they did a good job on the Dwarves. Still, it looks like I'll be sticking with EQ2 for now and I'll take a break from it when Warhammer Online and the latest WoW expansion comes out.

Bought the game ages back. Played it for about 2-3 hours. Looked good but nothing to interest me.

So matter or un-installing it and ending the sub. Pain in the rear...

Same. I found that they had spent uber time on the graphics and not concentrated on the game content. But really what it comes down to is I love WoW so much nothing can compate to it!

I found that the difference between now and the beta is that I'm actually reading the quests, paying atention, and living the story rather than fast forwarding through collection quests.

Liking it so far, just nice to be in a new world. As much as WoW was awesome, I don't think I can take much more cartoon characters and 12 yr olds.

You have a toon on Meneldor? The Alla Kinship awaits.

Send a tell to Nobby or Noblet - in game now

If you get bored with LOTRO, think about picking up the latest EQ2 expansion, Rise of Kunark (includes original game and all previous expansions). Sounds like your new video card and memory will be able to handle it. The last expansion and this new one have really ramped up my interest in Norrath.

DSD, Nadenu, Tare, Billian, and I are on the Blackburrow server. From my experience in EQ2, the majority of players are mature and helpful.

How is RoK?

Echoes of Faydwer was mediocre in my opinion. The new race was perhaps one of the laughable inventions ever. Then their were a bunch of hard to navigate zones with no easy travel, split up by a lot of zoning. The 5 man content had a little bit of coolness to it for the most part it was tame.

That being said I enjoy the game and the people, Bane ftw, I just enjoyed WoW more. Like I mention on another forum there is nothing end game in EQ2 that comes down to the absolute twitch gaming that Blizz is bringing to WoW. I mean compare any encounter in EQ2 to say Zul'jin or Fathom Lord and it just doesn't compare.

Regarding EoF, I haven't seen everything in it as my toons are only in their 40s, but I really liked the Butcher Block (when leveling up my troubadour) and currently digging the Steamfont area - I guess it's because it evokes memories of the original areas in EQ.

I haven't delved at all into RoK yet except to play around with a new Sarnak toon that I eventually deleted - Iksar are more interesting to me if I'm gonna play a reptilian creature. Also, it has only lev 1-20 then 70+ content so I'm still between those levels to explore further. DSD or Tare could probably tell you more about the 70+ content.

I will hop back into WoW when the next expansion comes because I would love to level up a toon to get to the end-game content one day and check out the new Hero class - but I'm a little concerned over the timesink (if it still exists) in WoW. RL is keeping me too busy as it is to even play EQ2 very much.

I am not going to get into a game vs game thing here. But to answer Bhods question of Kunark, it is by far, the most well done expansion to date, most especially if you have any knowledge of EQ1.

I have not been to the lower level zones of Kunark so I cant answer any questions on those. However, 70+ content is just awesome. They definitely took a page out of WoWs book and added in a lot more solo content and quest lines. In fact, that's all I have been doing so far and I am at level 74. I still have a ton to do. I've also yet been into any instances but from what the Baners have said they are pretty solid. Excellent solo quest rewards, some that even blow away my fabled gear. Actual upgrades even for a raider like myself.

Raid zones are progressive. They have added for some higher level ones that every person in the raid be keyed to get in, so it will be a team effort ensuring quest nights for guildies.

I went to Field of Bone for the first time the other night. It is EXACTLY like it was in EQ1 only much bigger. But you turn the corner to view it and you're just blown away. It's like stepping back into the Norrath we knew before. Same mobs to kill in the same areas. The Burynai are there, Kurns Tower... just cool.

Levels went up to 80, AAs up to 140, 20 additional per tree. They added Sarnaks as a playable race, evil.

Not like we'd actually see you on more than for you to say hi, but I thought I'd answer your question. Smiley: grin

Played and enjoyed LotrO, then one day I just dropped it. Suddenly I lost all interest, it looks nice and at times it is nice to visit 'familiar' places, but ultimately, it's the same as the other mmorpg's out there and there's something unsatisfying about all those 'familiar' places.

RoK is pretty massive. I liked Faydwer, but the new zones are much better. They are huge, absolutely stuffed with quests and things to do. Most of the mobs are solo but they are a bit tougher for their levels than in other zones. It's also quite stable so far, the new method used for rendering the large zones (think of the Commonlands and Antonica in one big zone for instance, that's Kylong plains) does create lag a bit faster imo. It took a couple of days before the first lvl 80's arose, but that's inevitable.

The new epic quests are not in the game as yet.

Any new abilities? Talent trees extended? Are attunments to end game raids big long drawn out processes like DT? Lots of zoning or are zones larger?

Details!
