Thanks, I was almost forgetting to call my dad today and wish him a happy b-day.

Hope you all had a Happy Thanksgiving. Jonwin and I have been sick, so stay home and had a hot toddy for breakfast. What family I talked to, was by phone, since I didn't want to spread the germs. Daughter did bring over her left-over dinner and most of the pumpkin Smiley: pie for us to feast on, yesterday.

Family tree has 3 well decrease relations, coming over on the Mayflower. Even a famous poem about them and now the ugliest guy on the ship didn't get the girl. The other 2 in poem granddaughter. married his grandson. Rate ups for folks who can name the poem and their names.

When one of my sisters called the house we were preparing to cook. My wife answered the phone and said "No...your mother and brother both have their hands up the turkey's butt." I think mine were actually down its throat, but my mom's definitely were!

Well, I think this thanksgiving officially qualifies as the strangest one ever. Ended up spending most of it visiting my aunt in the mental ward of the spokane hospital after she put 4 police officers in the hospital at her workplace because her many years ago anti crazyness surgery failed. Since she was the one who had the house we were going to (since grandparent up there is in retirement home, etc) we also ended up eating turkey at the home of my other aunt's husband's mom. Whom I had not met previously.

So yeah. this was a strange one.

Went to Joph's sister's, who cooks almost exclusively from the Williams-Sonoma cookbook, which apparently tells you to add bacon to squash. Her home is always picture-perfect and we were all forewarned that we had a hard 9:30pm exit time as she and my MIL were headed to the outlet malls to sleep outside in their hunt for sales.

I will never understand people's fascination with bacon. Smiley: disappointed

We're still enjoying leftovers from day, plus I just made a Provencale stew to die for.

Blah, that sucks. The only foods I'm allergic too aren't usually on the TDay menu. Strawberries being the main one, peanuts to a lesser extent.

I never understood people's fascination with Black Friday. I stay as far away from the stores as I can on that day.

The fascination is saving money, I guess. Not that mind boggling.

Yeah, but you really don't save that much. Plus the hassle and the irritation of putting up with all the freaks out on that day just isn't worth it.

True enough, but let's face it, people just aren't that s-m-r-t.

My mother & sister did the Black Friday thing this year (and do most years). This year was a bust but, in the past, they've managed to snag those "$99 iPod!! 2 in stock" deals for various things including a laptop and, well, an iPod. Personally, you couldn't get me to wait outside of a store at 2am if they were selling Eternal Life inside but the females in my family are obviously of more shopping-worthy stock than I.

My parents and a number of my aunts and uncles all took a trip to Asia and missed Thanksgiving this year. So the family get-together was noticeably smaller this year. But that just meant more gluttony for us! Smiley: grin

I loved how the turkey turned out this year, but the mashed potatoes and green bean almondine were my best dishes this year. I'm so going to have to do a recipe for yams and sweet potatoes next year.

Did absolutely no shopping this year except for the Mommy/Daughter afternoon at the mall yesterday with Charmaine.
