So Mike Huckabee seems to be a little behind the times, and released a commercial in which he is endorsed by passé internet fad Chuck Norris.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EjYv2YW6azE

NY Times wrote:
Mr. Huckabee, the former governor of Arkansas who, according to polls, last week ascended to the number-two spot in Iowa, will begin running his first television ad there today – starring Mr. Norris, the tough-guy action hero who has been actively campaigning for Mr. Huckabee.

Then Mr. Huckabee appears, looking somberly into the camera. “My plan to secure the borders?” he says, as the camera zooms out to reveal Mr. Norris seated next to Mr. Huckabee. “Two words. Chuck Norris.”

Is he throwing away any semblance of self-respect and becoming the next Ross Perot, or does this show that he is in touch with the untapped youth vote?

Or does anyone even care?

Fifteen million republicans tune in, daily, to listen Rush Limbaugh.

This will probably work for him.

It would have been funnier if he had used some of the good jokes.

"There is no such thing as 'survival of the fittest,' only a list of species that Chuck Norris allows to live."

"Chuck Norris was the fourth wise man. He gave Jesus the gift of beard."

"When Chuck Norris jumps in the ocean, he does not get wet; the ocean gets Chuck Norris'd.

"Chuck Norris does not sleep. He waits."

"Chuck Norris sold his soul to the devil for his rugged good looks and unparalleled martial arts abilities. Then he roundhouse kicked the devil and took his soul back."

I don't know, I think the joke works.

Bill Clinton does MTV to get to youngsters, Huck Finn does YouTube Allakhazam joke to get to youngsters. At least he gave it a shot. He still has no chance at the nomination.

It worked, although expect to see less Allakhazam jokes now that the old people have figured it out. Which is a good thing for everyone.

I thought it was a riot. Probably the funniest political advertisement I've seen in a long time.

It "works" strictly by the fact that it gets him a lot of name recognition with minimal expense. The brilliant tie-in to internet pop culture guarantees it'll be bounced around a hell of a lot (read: Free advertisement). Not sure if it'll be enough to make a huge difference in his odds over the long run, but it certainly helps him.

The idea of the ad was worse than the actual ad itself. I still couldn't really see spending money on airtime with it but it's not as retarded as I first suspected.

I'd have guessed it's be an internet only thing. Although the YouTube thing was viewed almost 300,000 times by the time I checked it so he got his money's worth no matter what.

Case closed then, a disastrous failure.

For normal, intelligent people. Seems to be a rousing success for the Reduhblican constituency.

He's trying to win the Republican nomination. What other criteria should this ad be measured by?

I suppose he could have done an ad in which he accused Bush of taking us into an "illegal war", called immigration reform "racist", talked about the horrors of 50 million US citizens being without health care, and pushed heavily for action to fight Global Warming. But that wouldn't have helped him much, right?...

Nah, prolly not.

Forgive me, political/ethical views notwithstanding, I'm apparently of the vast minority who considers the Allakhazam Phenomenon one of the downright stupidest things the human race has ever come up with. And you know to what heights I view the human race.

As one who agrees with that point of view, I can't believe that you can't then, by extension, find the humor in it making it's way in to presidential politics which is, arguably, the stupidest thing the human race has ever com up with.

I don't laugh at cripples, is all.

Unless they're comedians, like Jimmy on South Park.

It's so sad to see older politicians try to "get in touch with the youth of America" when it's obvious they have no clue. They always pick the old **** that no one cares about anymore. I half-expect his next ad campaign to be "Oh snap you just got Rick Roll'd!"

You know what else is sad? When you share your opinion. Now go back to Final Fantasy and leave thinking to those equipped for the task.

If he is doing Allakhazam stuff on a Campaign add, he doesn't sound to serious, meaning I would never vote for him.

You're an idiot. It would be a boon for the country if it had a leader that could communicate with and relate to more segments of of the population. Suggesting you wouldn't vote for him because he did a cheesy ad is as asinine as suggesting you wouldn't vote for him because he is a Michael Bolton fan.

No, gay Dems may like Bolton, but there's way too many straight Pubbies that are MB fans to make that sort of generalization.

That and when was the last time you met a gay Republican? On that topic we're like Iranian Presidents. We just deny they exist in our little group.

Odds make it seem likely it would coincide with the last time you met a Republican. Or did you mean "openly" gay.
