This thread has two points: one to see what you guys are doing to keep you away from the Asylum and also to show you what's been keeping me away from the boards. In other words, I'm showing off my house Smiley: grin I still have a lot to do so it will be awhile before I can come crap up this area with random threads to get you guys awake. But I've gotten a lot done so I thought I'd share my new abode in NC.

We're renting a townhouse is a nice area of Apex. It's very quiet despite the enormity of the subdivision and abundance of stores within walking distance.
dining room 1

dining room 2

master bedroom

living room from birds eye view Lots of crates to still put away and I need to get the decorations up.

living room from below, looking upstairs

kitchen 1

kitchen 2

Xaviers room

Ashes room

The deck was too akward to get a pic so I just took some of our view from it.

the lake directly behind us

tennis courts, playground, clubhouse. Behind the clubhouse is a large pool for tenants.

Around the lake is a walking trail that they are finishing up. There is a resteraunt going in on the far side of the lake, and the idea is to be able to walk around, stop for a bite to eat and continue on your way home. I dont know when it will be done, but I would guess by mid spring. They'll also be expanding the playground, and adding in basketball courts next year too.
We're 1 minute from the historic downtown, which is a great place to wander in and out of small shops, stop for tea or ice cream, and hang out. 5 minutes from a huge playground, cinemas, and every store you could need. Granted, Tares a mere 15 minutes from us, but we don't hold that against her.

So what's been keeping you away? Despite the understanding we've hashed everything to death and back, and everyone knows where who stands on what issue, there's gotta be more going to to make this place so dead. Spill it!

I was going to make a witty fairly accurate post but I've been informed that our official line here is "Nexa and I are feeding and clothing the homeless."

Damn it, that totally throws my plans to steal their clothes and make them starve, causing food riots in major shopping centers into total dissarray.

By the way, I am totally and completel jealous of that lake right behind your house DSD. if I had one of those, chances are they would never see me at work again!

Since the ebil Sub-Prime loan bastages in Ameh'cuh managed to devalue my house to the price of a Happy Meal, I'm tapping my foot in this cardboard box in a shop doorway waiting for Smash & Nexa to bring food.

Wow, that is such a pretty townhouse and lake out back...

I can see why you wanted to move out of New England and to there so much.

About how big is the trail encircling the lake?

the lake itself is more of a large pond but the trail goes all the way around, probably under a mile walk? We also have nature trails wandering in and out of the woods encircling our neighborhood. Good for jogging, biking, roller blading, etc.

Beautiful place you've got there. And the surroundings look magnificent too, which only makes me wonder why you don't post even less. Guess it's a bit cold outside... Still, I'm well jealous.

I'd post more, but I'm really not feeling it these days. Going through a weird time at work, and with the gf, and my mind is a bit all over the place. And, lately, I don't feel like I have anything intresting to say. Or anything worthwhile. Sometimes, I even wonder why I started posting here in the first place.

And then... And then I remember all the cool posters whose prose I love reading, and all the dumb **** that gets written and I can't help but reply, and all the subtle camaraderie that discreetly flows through the few and far between threads, and then I'm like "No, seriously, wtf?! A presidential candidate that doesn't believe in evolution?!"

Anyway, really nice house!

you mean my computer? That's my crap computer for just browsing the net during the day. My real computer, the gaming one, is upstairs in the husbands office( I didnt post pics of that room as its still in disarray). I had to have the old one put downstairs so I didnt bug him when he was working. And yup, 22" widescreen Smiley: grin.

I've been at work, working, and since the site got blocked I just don't post as much. Every so often I pop in from home, but I've never been one for being on here at all hours. I've been posting more the last couple of days because I've been home sick, but I go back tomorrow so that'll end.

Jophiel won't let you have the keyboard at home because it would detract from his exponentially growing post count?

Nice place.

And I wouldn't say I've been away, it's just been dead so there's not as much to reply to.

Canned response: Raising a kid, keeping a house, working full time, taking a class, writing a thesis, participating in various organizations because I clearly have mental health issues that make it impossible for me to know when to quit, and of course, feeding and clothing the homeless.

Oh, and donating blood to orphaned lepers, naturally.

Oh, and the house looks great. I'm not at all jealous and certainly don't hate you with a firey rage for escaping from the land of death and despair just in the nick of time.

Work. I'd post pictures of my in-box, but due to the Confidentiality Agreement I signed, I am unable to do so.

I've been taking classes at night too for a Certificate in Intellectual Property. My work pretty much decided that they need me to concentrate more on patent and trademark work rather than the corporate side of things (but I'm still doing that too). So I've been super busy either doing homework or work work.

Then at home it's house stuff such as the laundry, cleaning, cooking, spending time with the kids and servicing the husbandguy.

P.S. I am so incredibly jealous that you've completely unpacked and gotten your house in order. Been in our home since February and we're nowhere near done.

As much as everyone hates to hear it, we really need some new blood in here. But damned if I am going to be the one to collect it. I suppose I could start posting more threads, it just always feels odd to have too many admin started threads in a forum to me.

I guess theres no picks of DSD/SK's private dungeon because its in disarray too right?

Aside from being mom, I'm busy applying to midwifery school again this year, and myself and another friend have been helping out a third friend who just had twins. Plus, I'm working on a bunch of craft-type stuff I am planning to give folks for the holidays.

Lovely home, DSD!

A few factors:

1. ToUtem, Moebius, Pickle, RedPhoenixxx - most of my muses are in absentia Smiley: cry

2. I'm lacking any inspiration, wit, enthusiasm or decent contentious stories.

And most of all,

3. No decent trolls. The passing of Drac, varrus and hellbwah have left gbaji to single-handedly take on the cognoscenti, and he's failed to step up to the plate.

I still drop by to see what Joph, Smash, Flea, Nexa, Nadenu, bimbo-hairdresser et al have posted, but. . well. . . mehh.

I've been posted to the 10th circle of hell (Cornwall) and since they haven't been connected to teh interwebs i only get online at weekends, which is also the only time i get to spend time with the wife and kids and watch TV since i resent paying one TV licence so there is no f*cking way i'm paying for two.

So i get online for about 3-5 hours a week atm which l;eaves little to no time for forum browsing.

49 weeks of torture before i rejoin the real world, expect a significant increase in posting then.
