Stephen Colbert tosses satirical hat into ring
‘After nearly 15 minutes of soul-searching, I have heard the call’

NEW YORK - Stephen Colbert has announced his candidacy for president on "The Colbert Report," tossing his satirical hat into the ring of an already crowded race.

"I shall seek the office of the president of the United States," Colbert said Tuesday on his Comedy Central show as red, white and blue balloons fell around him.

My money is on Steve Carell for VP!

Why is this even news? I mean, it's on CNN's site, the Tribune's, etc. It's not as though he's actually going to do anything with it so why the major coverage?

Yeesh.

For the record, I like Colbert's show but he probably made more realistic impact when he rigged the voting for that Hungarian bridge.

I don't watch Colbert's or Stewart's shows. Does that make me un-hip?

I keep laughing whenever I see the banner on CNN about Anna Nicole's Death Probe.

I wonder if it's the same one Vader has.

I don't either. Stewart is a tool, Colbert is funny for a couple of minutes.

Stewart was amusing until he decided to try to transition from funny guy reading funny jokes to Al Franken.

I can see that. He's gone from playing it sorta-straight to constantly mugging for the camera and trying to get laughs for his antics rather than for the absurdity of his newscast. I still like him but I've noticed the shift.

I think it's the opposite of that, really. I think he's being more clownish to avoid the presumption that he's a partisan trying to be taken seriously.

If voting is a popularity contest, then out of all the canidates(if this is true he's running). He seems a hell of a lot more appealing to me.

Honestly, all the other canidates are crap. They **** me off with their smugness and holier than thou attitude.

It'd be a good laugh and honestly, I think alot more would get done with a non-politician in office. The problem with politics IS politics. Two party systems suck. Other than your normal moral stuff(you know, like stabbing babies with saudering irons = bad), it's either right for them or wrong for them(depending on the party). Stuff doesn't get acomplished and they biker like people on message boards. (:D)

Of course, i don't vote, mainly because i think it's a waste of time b/c no matter who you vote for, they really aren't who's in charge.

While he doesn't stand a snowballs chance in hell if he does REALLY run. I think i might get up off my *** and finally vote if he does.

Just two days after Colbert announces his candidacy, Brownback ends his presidential bid.

Coincidence??

It took me a full 10 seconds to understand this sentence.

"They biker? How do they ride motercycles like people on message boards? Do people on message boards all ride motorcycles? Am I the only one that drives a 4-wheeled vehicle? I bet they all ride crotch rockets too. I think I'd rather have a nice cruiser, or at least something that didn't look like a Micro Machine.

Oh, bicker! I get it!"

To be fair, he would make a better President than Robin Williams.

This is true. Of course that's not to say he'd make a great president. But, as i've stated, I don't think any of the current canidates would either.
