Evidently, they can use it to shoot across a room they're about to enter to check for trip wires and whatnot. I never would have thought of that.

Well it just amuses me that you *KNOW* they've spent a ton of money on some high-tech laser-beam technology that doesn't work. What works? Silly string.
And they'd know that if they'd just asked.

Heh. I liked the military's response. "Ummm... thanks and all, but..."
Quote:
Lt. Col. Christopher Garver, a military spokesman in Iraq, said recently that Shriver's efforts are appreciated, but that commanders decide which items troops need. He said the spray was used heavily in the early stages of the conflict but is not as widely needed today.
"If commanders on the ground are screaming that we need this stuff, we'll get it to them," Garver said.
With Silly String, Bouncy Castles, Slip and Slides, Pam, Spam and Mini-vans, toss in a bazillion soft-boiled eggs, the Moms coulda won this thing lonG ago.

Yes, Moms keeping our sons and daughters safe...it obviously cost this mother something to purchase and ship this stuff. If it is indeed used in combat, she is contributing to the funding of the war.
...and yes, you can 'fund' the war without morally supporting it. (we all do eh)
OMG, silly string is highly flamable. WHAT WAS SHE THINKING????
Anybody ever see that footage of a party where the guests where spraying silly string on the birthday girl when they brought out the birthday cake with the candles blazing? String caught on fire, spread the girl and flash! /shudder
