How much do you use eBay to buy/sell items?
Never:25 (24.5%)
Once or twice:28 (27.5%)
Every so often:40 (39.2%)
All the freaking time!:9 (8.8%)
Total:102

I know I'm a little behind the times, but I just today created an eBay account. I've got the high bid on one item, and it'll likely be the only thing I ever use the site for.

I may, however, put my awesome Allakhazam karma bumper sticker up for sale, so all of you who want some guru street cred, keep your eyes open.

I'll check eBay if I can't find it on the Internet somewhere else. I usually go to Craigslist first.

Back in the day (around '00-01) I used it and, when times were especially tight, made the rent once or twice off of old stuff I no longer had a need for. These days, it's a different scene both with the buyers and with eBay's own management and policies. With the fees eBay charges now, it's no longer worth it to throw stuff up just to see if it sells. I guess it's a lot more commercial.

Last time I used it was last summer to buy some concert tickets. I actually got a good price for them -- about 15% over face price which is probably no worse than I would have spent through Ticketmaster. I'll still buy from there but I doubt I'll ever get into selling via eBay again.

I did get burned for £300 ($600) when a high-rated seller (>2,000 positive comments) got into financial difficulties and decided to sell gear he didn't have, take the money and leave the country.

That aside, I've bought quite a few nice guitars for very good prices, found obscure books and some unusual things for relatives' birthday presents when they're in the "difficult to buy for" category.

Never sold on eBay though

Used to have an ebay store for anime related items and "nerd" cards (L5R, Yu-Gi-Oh, etc.). It wasn't worth the fees. We still purchase things on ebay on a regular basis though.

A Hartford Whalers jersey. I just can't find them anywhere except for specialty sports shops, and the prices at those places are ridiculous.

Got a few nifty items off there, including black n white camera films (much cheaper in bulk off there than the 6 or so pounds they are EACH in the shop >.<

I don't see the amount made being worth the fees and hassle of selling stuff on there though, but i know there are stories of people out there who profit from ebay alone and quit their jobs blah blah blah...

I've sold an item or two and I have bought off ebay before. I got scammed on a PS2 "buy it through the link in this auction and you'll have it right after release." So I usually buy stuff through amazon unless I just can't get it anywhere else.

Seems like too much trouble to get $5 for something I'm selling. I prefer using the paper.

The wife and I get the occasional hard to find item via ebay, and I'm trying to sell off a bunch of instruments that I rarely play, but otherwise we really don't use it with any regularity.

My wife buys/sells a lot on eBay.

Over the last 6 - 8 weeks, we've been cleaning out our closets and pole barn and have managed to raise almost $1,000 for Christmas.

eBay has changed a lot over the years, it's a lot harder to find things that aren't being sold by overseas warehousing companies, but there are still some good deals to be had.

I too, like Nobby, got screwed on a high price purchase once. I managed to track the kid down to a bunch of different forums that he frequented and pestered him enough to actually send my money back, 13 months later.

A Hartford Whalers jersey.

I have one of those, you should have just asked. It's been hanging in my closet next to the Charlestown Chiefs jersey and the Gilmour, Sundin, and Domi jerseys.

WTF is that? I live in Southern California, drink guinness and fucked your mom in the *** last night. Tell her she charges to much. That was the biggest waste of two dollars in my life.

Try again ******** This time use something relevant, like, **** I don't know, how you like to jack off little boys while watching anime.

Fucking children.
