There's also a large difference between people having a discussion about how and when to best use some computer dohicky, and someone else being a total asshole.

Don't strain yourself thinking about it though...

You have proved that beyond any doubt, Skippy.

To make a long story short, I don't take any responsibility for anything I post here. It's not news, it's not truth, it's not serious. It's parody. It's satire. It's bitter. It's angsty. Your mother's a *****. You like to jack off dogs. That's right, you heard me. You like to grab that dog by the bone and rub it like a ski pole. Your dad? Gay. Your priest? Straight. **** off and let me post. It's not true, it's all in good fun. Now go away.

raid 1/0 doesn't work with less than 4 disks (afaik if its done with 2 it's just mirroring) and capacity can only be added in pairs of disks if that's what you were asking Nadenu of Doom so 4->6->8 and so on with regards to adding disks.

raid 0 vs. raid 5 is a very different beast in my experience (by a fairly large margin) even with great accelerators in both circumstances.

just take a look at these links in particular file server, database and workstation charts

Raid0
http://www.tomshardware.com/2007/07/02/raid_scaling_charts/page11.html
Raid5
http://www.tomshardware.com/2007/08/07/raid_scaling_charts/page7.html

which mimic my own findings, there is a reason Raid5 is not suggested as best practices for i/o intensive applications

You do loose a lot of storage with Raid0/1 but in the days of terrabyte drives that's not too much of a concern, even SAS 15,000 rpm drives aren't as expensive as the SCSI 10,000 rpm drives of yore once were
