My lady and I are heading to San Francisco for a couple of weeks at the end of November, and we plan to tour California. What are the must-do things to see? Any tips, money no object?

Freaking impossible even with my Fiance's Dad's black Amex concierge service (anyone know anyone who can sort that for me?)

You're going to fly all the way to California for French food?

I suppose, but should I ever make it to France, I refuse to order lobster.

I hope you have a great trip :)

By the by, and I'm not sure why, but I always picture your lady friend as Natalie Portman. I thought you'd like to know.

Oh, and what week is it that you'll be there (and trying to get a reservation, and at what location)?

Week of the 24th - 30th November, and it is the Franch Laundry in the Napa Valley I am desperate to eat at.

My other half is blonde, trying to think of a celeb who looks more like her. She has a hint of Elisabeth Shu about her.

Which part of California are you touring? Are you planning to stay in Northern California? Wine country is always a standard visit. You can also visit the Winchester House, Hearst Castle, Alcataz Island, Yosemite National Forest.

Well she knows I spend too much time dedicated to fantasy football, but the EQ stuff is still under wraps.

Does she know that you don't reply to PMs from other women? Cause that may be in your favor.

While IN-N-OUT isn't the be all end all of burgers, as far as a fast food joint goes, it is quite good. If you are in need of a quick bite to eat I would certainly recommend it over any other fast food joint.

While you are in California find an authentic mexican restaurant. Also, eat at the greasiest, nastiest looking street side taco stand that you can find. If you don't die of salmonella or e.coli it will be the best taco you've ever had.

Do go to alcatraz.

DO go to las vegas. DO something that doesn't involve gambling. You could spend a year in las vegas and not see everything that city has to offer (coming from someone whos been over 20 times).

If you do go to las vegas, consider stopping by the hoover dam. If you do stop by the hoover dam, be mindful that there is an IN-N-OUT quite close to it.

Do try some California home-grown, if thats your thing.

If you're serious about visiting NorCal, Pat, send me a PM here and I'll see what I can do to meet up with you while you're here if you are interested. Muy frio.

Oh, and the long term forecast is for dry and warmer conditions, so no snow skiing, buddy. Sorry.

In-N-Out is delicious. I took a road trip to San Diego (from St. Louis) last summer, and being a Big Lebowski fan, In-N-Out was a must. We also shopped at a Ralph's :D

The San Diego area is beautiful. The gaslight district, or whatever their 'old downtown' is called, has a lot of nice restaurants, and is a very short walk from the pier on the ocean. (Which was my first time to the Pacific, btw)

I could definitely recommend southern California for a destination, but with the wildfires you may want to stay further north >.>;;
