That's like saying that there's no difference between murder and manslaughter because in both cases, someone died.

Well, the day manslaughter becomes glamorous and they create a "Manslaughter of the Year Award", while "murder" languishes as its reviled and despised seedy cousin, I'll make a thread about it!

Or maybe there's no difference between a legitimate business transaction and "trafficking in stolen goods". Both involved a transfer of goods for money, right?

For the 57th time, the legality of either is completely irrelevant since in plenty of places both are legal, and in plenty of others both are illegal. If I wanted to know what the legal status of either was in the US, I would've looked it up on Wiki and saved you a thread.

As it stands to day, I find that the difference in society's perception of both those phenomenons is completely disproportional to the real differences between those two professions.

Okay!

One of the early platforms of certain radical feminists was that marriage was prostitution. Marriage was slavery, marriage was rape.

I took a Womens' Studies class in my misspent college years, and during one discussion I naively asked if radicals, not just feminists but any radicals at the start of any revolution, didn't do their cause more harm than good by taking such, to me, extreme ideological stances.

Oh, dear, that was not a popular opinion. Smiley: laugh

On the other side of the feminist movement were older, probably more conservative (relatively speaking) and not coincidentally married women arguing, "Let's pick the fights we can win, how 'bout it?" and getting grief for it.

So, yeah. It's been discussed at some length, trust me.
